Last 4 lbs...how to make them disappear?

As I am sure many of you know, it gets pretty difficult to drop those last 5lbs. I don't want to give up and just settle, even though I have done really great, 23lbs lost total.

Any ideas to jump start the metabolism and blast through the last few pounds? I try to eat primarily whole foods, and do my best to not eat high amounts of meat, and pork is definitely off limits. I am sure there are no magic tricks. I just always get so close then get discouraged and give up. I don't want to do that this time. Thanks for the help and support.

i'm 4 pounds away from my goal unless i change it lol. I'm going to start eating more actually. I'm slowly changing my settings to 1/2 pound per week. I think my body needs it tho because I work out A LOT and I wasn't eating very much before. But that's just me-- most people would be too scared to eat more! I thik it's a god idea tho.

I looked at a couple of days on your diary and it looks like you're not eating nearly enough, and not nearly enough protein. Try increasing your calories to only lose 1/2 pound per week and I think you'll see that throwing more fuel on the fire really will work.

I found bumping my weight loss goal to 1/2 pound per week is working for me... I really only lose about 1/2 pound so on the scale it moves really really slowly, but it is moving. lol

When you get down to the last few pounds patience is the key. It moves slowly and you have to put those 4 pounds on the back burner and not think about it or it will drive you CRAZY! lol

    Good luck!

I stalled with about 13 pounds left to lose. I then set my goal to lose 0.5 pounds/week and started losing again, albeit very slowly. You really have to accept slow losses at then end as well accepting you will be eating closer to maintenance during this time. I eat only 250 calories below maintenance every day.

I was stuck at those last 10 lbs for quite a bit and I was able to lose it by changing to a more high intensity workout and found a nutrtion shake that I use to replace my breakfast and lost those pounds in 6 weeks!

You might need to increase your workout intesity. I did try the Zig Zag diet where I ate more calories but that didn't work for me. My body didn't respond well... Just keep at it! You will find the key to losing those last few!!!

Is the lack of meat a personal/vegetarian choice? Because I've found that eating more meat (mostly chicken or fish, but also beef and pork) has given me a big boost as far as burning fat goes.

At this point, I'm not concerned about pounds lost. I just want to lose a little more fat, so if I happen to gain more muscle and a pound or two in the process, I'm not going to fuss over it.

:flowerforyou: consider eliminating any food that comes in a box or package or shrink-wrap and eat only real food
meat, fruits, veggies, and then upping your exercise, logging the calories conservatively, and eating almost all of your exercise calories

I think you need to adjust your carbs and protein. Less carbs and more protein. Up your strength training and cardio. try to do something everyday. :)

Thank you all so much for the help! I will definitely use some of those tips...I think adjusting to lose only 1/2 lb a day is a great idea too!
