So last night we went to our local icecream shop. I usually get icecream once a week. My 2 year she just get a tiny bit of her own bowl. Well I had asked the lady for a kids icecream. The kids icecream bowl is two scoops. I always ask for one for my little girl. They are like you still have to pay for it. I said I don't care. She doesn't need that much icecream. The lady told me she wished her parents would have did that to her ;).. Just thought I share. I am not going to be one of those parents that won't allow her sugary sweets. I will just moniter them. Usually after dinner she is allowed to have a mini hershey chocolate.. I buy that assorted mini hershey chocolates!! I eat one sometimes...

Agreed. If you don't allow kids any sweets at all, they'll just go wild with them when you're not around... but allow them too many, and you might as well not be around to watch them go wild.

One scoop is enough for ME. A two-year-old definitely doesn't need two. :)

My mom always monitored our dessert/snack portions and I'm very grateful she did. She packed applesauce in our lunches instead of fruit rollups like the other kids. She didn't have soda in the house or junk food cereal.

She also had little rules like, if you had soda with dinner at a restaurant then no dessert after dinner. And if you had oreos, or something, the limit was three with a glass of milk. Little things like that I will pass down to my kids (when I have them).
