:ohwell: I can't stop going over on my protein. But i struggle to get the rest of my calories. I'm usually left with atleast 70 calories and still 5 to 10 over on protein(26 today and 122 more calories) How is this affecting me?

As long as you have normal kidney function, you shouldn't worry about a little extra protein....but I am sure there are more knowledgeable people on here to streer you right. I have done a lot of reading on it, and while a few nutritionist say animal protien is un-needed and even harmful, you will fnd many more studies that doo not support that idea. At any rate, just keep trying to evolve your intake foods to reflect your comfort level. Best to you! Have a great weekend! <Can you do that without great food??>
  • My husband has told me that body builders and anyone who is maintaining muscle mass will eat about 1 gram of protein for every pound that they weigh. BUT if you are trying to loose weight and at the same time tone up then you should have anywhere from 1/3-1/2 of your body weight in grams of protein for everytime that you would work out. Protein helps burn cals. and gives your muscles what they need to get you through your complete work out. Have you ever noticed that when you have gone over your protein for the day(s) you will actually eat less and lose more weight.

For some reason, MFP figures them a little low, when actually it's good to get a little extra at this time. Pretty much every exercise you do is helping your body change and muscle to grow, and protein is good for that, so don't worry about it.

I don't even really pay attention to that column anymore.
