Good Morning!
This will be an unusual short post from me! I need to get the house cleaned up because we have company coming tonight. I also want to try to get the dash back in my car today since it will be so nice outside!
I am feeling more myself today so I am going to do the push ups test today and see how far I get. The rest of the day will be cleaning and working on my car and making cookies for tonight. The leftover cookies are going to work with my hubby on Monday. I may even take them to church tomorrow morning! I do not want them around the house! I've pigged out too much the last few days!
Okay, I'm done! I pray your day is blessed and that everyone is healthy!

    Hi everyone!

I'm still debating between bikram and the gym today. Just checked the schedule, and one of my favorite instructors is teaching this afternoon. . .also I slept through my spin class this morning, so I think bikram may win today. (also, since I missed yesterday, that would even me out for the week between yoga and cardio) Also, I'm extremely stressed, so yoga is probably what I need. OK, now I'm just babbling. . .

I'm seriously considering a return to logging my food. (see "extremely stressed") I'm making bad food choices, and I'm wondering if I can log just to log and not to restrict or overindulge, but just to keep a record of my food. Ah, the wonderful challenges of maintenance. . .

So, that's my novella for the morning.

water, vits, bikram and hopefully some sleep tonight!

    take care of yourselves!:flowerforyou:

    Greetings from North Dallas.

Today I hope to visit the gym, but if not, there will be a lot of walking today.

Today is a day of bad food, but I'll survive.

    Cheers!

I had a great workout at the gym yesterday - about 40 minutes on the elliptical (w/incline intervals), and then 20 minutes on the treadmill. I ran a ten-minute mile! (I know, that may not sound exciting to the runners - Adrianne  - but it was exciting to me! Especially since I was already tired from the elliptical and had never tried running at 6mph before. Even at my most fit - when I was doing gym class over the summer one year in high school so I wouldn't have to take it during the year, so we were running at least a mile every day, often one at the beginning and one at the end - I could only manage an 8:30 mile. So I feel pretty good about 10:00, considering I haven't run at all in a few weeks.

Then I rewarded myself with Mexican food and forgot to do my push-ups. :embarassed: The food wasn't too bad, but my stomach did feel kinda heavy a few hours later. Hmmm. I'll catch up on push-ups today and try my test on Monday. Good luck on yours, MM!

Viv - sorry you're so stressed. Do you think that having a log helps you make better choices? If you are just looking for a record that you can review later, maybe logging at the end of the day on paper would be a compromise. I liked what you were talking about the other day - trying to keep track of how eating different things and exercising makes you feel afterwards. So I can see the value of a log for that. You just don't want to be obsessive about it at this point - you need to be able to trust yourself to make generally good decisions. As you say - take care of yourself! I hope that makes sense. :flowerforyou:

Hope everybody is having a nice weekend. And cheers to some of the folks who haven't been posting lately, too - I hope you all are well.

P.S. Mary - I've been meaning to tell you how much I like the quote in your sig. It has actually stopped me from stress-eating on at least one occasion. Thanks!

Yeah, that's part of why I want to go back to logging. . .so I have a record of how certain foods make me feel. And how certain feelings affect my food. I'm a little concerned that I'll get all math-y with it again. . .so I may hold off. Maybe paper journaling is better for now, and checking my work to see where my calories are averaging out. . .

Most of my stress is "good stress". . .three conference presentations in the next few months and my comps and my teaching. . .I'm just feeling a little overwhelmed by responsibilities. (there's also bad stress, like the money woes it seems like everyone is having these days. . .and my union is threatening to strike, which I can't handle financially) I call this the "holy crap. . .I'm a grown-up" syndrome. It will pass, I'm sure. I was reminded today that yoga really, really helps. . .so I think that's going to be my focus in working out. . .but I'll have to see how that all works out.

I love that quote too. I saw it on a bumper sticker and thought of all the ways it could apply.
