Hi, I'm Naamah, and I...

...have an eating disorder.

:( I binge, and I can barely eat without doing something - reading, surfing the Internet, watching movies.

But I don't want to be like this. I don't want to end up like both of my grandmothers (Type 2 diabetes - yes, it's scary, it's already in my head, please don't remind me as I've lost one because of it already.) I wanna be curvy, not chubby. I want to be happier in my own skin.

I think I can do it, but I could use help.

And if anyone has awesome protein-based smoothie recipes, I work at a smoothie shop with Blendteks - the kind you can blend an Ipod in. So suggest, and I will try :)

I'm a total newbie to the website, but not the Android app. So I'd love a friend or thirteen :D

    Welcome Naamah!

You are taking the most important first step to a healthier, longer life - congratulations. It is not easy to change our eating habits but it is also not impossible. With your attitude and the friends you will have on MFP, I know you will be successful. The one thing to keep in mind is to be good to yourself. We all have "bad" days - eat too many calories, skip a workout, etc. You can't beat yourself up over these days; just remember, tomorrow is another opportunity to be "good".

Here is one of my favorite smoothie recipes:

    Bit-o-Honey Smoothie

    1T Peanut Butter
    1T Honey
    1 Medium Banana
1C Almond Milk (or low fat/skim milk)

    Welcome to MFP!

Hey, Naamah! Do you really have an eating disorder, or were you trying to make a joke? Sorry if you were being serious; I don't mean to offend you or anything. I guess maybe I mis-read what you wrote? Please forgive me either way if I'm slow on the uptake. I'll blame it on my recent head injury.

Anyway, welcome to the site! Go ahead and friend me if you want to! We all can use as much support as we can get.

BTW, is Naamah your name, or are you a fan of Jacqueline Carey's novels, too? :-)

Stacey, have you ever tried this with almond butter instead of peanut butter? I wonder how that would taste. Your recipe sounds good, but I can't have peanut products and would like to try it. ...not that you were posting it for me! :embarassed:

Not officially diagnosed as I don't have the money for the psychologist anymore, but given the trauma of my childhood (including food deprivation) and my behavior with binge eating, it's hard not to admit it.

I took the name from the original Hebrew mythology, but I have read Dart. The writing style isn't quite my thing, but the story was entertaining.

(Go ahead and take the smoothie recipe! And I bet almond butter would be FAB, just maybe a bit more of it, or a slightly higher fat milk to make up the mouthfeel.)
