Stretchmark Removal?

I know many women can accept their stretchmarks as 'mummy' marks and love them because they are a result of my child but I am NOT one of those people.

I love my son with all my heart but I do not need ghastly marks all along my stomach, literally from top to bottom, to remind me of him. I have a tattoo to remind me, I have him, I don't need nor want these.

Almost 1 year postpartum and mines, although some have faded to a small extent, are still red and angry. So I am looking into laser removal of them.

I know laser treatment won't get rid of them completely but it will diminish their appearance, which is all I want. I have the money to spare and my son will not go without as a result of this, which is why I am considering it.

So does anyone have any before and afters, advice, reviews etc they wouldn't mind sharing?

Since you still have 30 lbs to goal, I would personally weight as more may develop as you continue to lose. I do get your point though, sometimes i wish i could have mine lasered off too. Then i start thinking of the money and how it would be taking away money from my son to be a vein-*kitten* (me) and it stops me.

I am interested in seeing before and after result pics from people as well! I am pregnant with my 2nd child and I can deal with the stretch marks if they will fade away some but I still am interested in results JUST incase one day I decide to try the lazer removal. I have thought about it as well.

I understand exactly how you feel. I hate my stretchmarks! I am only 26 years old and last summer my body lokoed better than it did in highschool, but I wouldnt dare wear a bikini. I just keep trying to tell myself that they will never go away and at least I can still look good and feel a lot better with clothes on just by losing the weight. Fortunately I live in Canada so there are only a few bikini months anyways :)

If you find anything that really works to lessen them then please let me know

lazer to remove or help stretcmarks -really wow ,didnt know about that,,,,yes i have some advice for you ,,,im 38 coming up & have had many years since my teens of this problem & it has caused me no end of emotional turmoil & sadness & feeling of dislike of myself ,,my tummy has not been out or shown to anyone for 21 years since it graced my tummy & its been a hard thing for me to come to terms with ,i have not as yet come to terms with it ,but have come to terms with the fact i can never remove my top for anything or anyone ,i cannot stress enough how much it has & is affecting my life ,,,so my advise to you is if you have discovered a way to do it & its not going to break the bank ,then go for it & dont wait years ,,im very interested in this post & any replies you get ,,maybe there is a way forward for me too ,before im too old ,,,,, your still young so i say if your able go for it ....

my sister uses mederma. she swears by it. it is expensive, though. i think $40 a tube. i haven't tryed it, not sure if i will. at this point, they don't bother me. if i ever get thin enough to wear a bikini then i would be so pumped about that, that i wont give a hooha if i have stretch marks. i might have a change of heart, though, it that time ever comes

So, having just worked this out I am shocked at how much I have already spent on my stretchmark treatments. Currently I use Bio-Oil, a boots cream and a St.Ives body firming cream and I have done twice a day, every day, since my son was born.

Bio Oil and St.Ives costs me £15 and £12 respectively, and I go through on bottle a month which over the course of a year is £324.
My boots cream costs me £12 and lasts me two months so costs £72.

In total I have spent £396 on treatment, yet I could have paid £400, so £4 more for 3 laser treatments and been done with these months ago!

I'm only 18, I want a bikini body. I want to look confident at the pool. I want to know in my heart if I ever fall in love again I wil be confident enough to sleep with that person and not break down at the thought of everyone being repulsed by me :(

Try looking into creams/gels first to see if they will help. Most of them are low cost. I believe I have Mederma, but honestly I haven't tried it yet. Seeing this post reminded me that I have it!

I don't think you're being vain. I think we all have our "things" that bug us and this is clearly yours. I don't have any experience in stretch mark removal. But, I say go for it! If you've got the money to spare, just do it. I don't have any children, but I'm not aware of any agreement you sign upon giving birth that requires you to take a vow of never spending a dime on yourself anyway. You're doing your child a big favour with a self-confident Mom who feels pretty great about herself. I'd call several places and ASK if its better to wait until you've lost your weight and then have it done. Or if there's benefit to having it done during weight loss to reduce them at the same time. Good luck to you!

i feel so sad seeing so many of you being so distraught over stretch marks! most women have them. how many people will really look at you on the beach and say "gross, she has stretch marks" versus "hey, she has stretch marks and is in a bikini! good for her!" or more than likely, not even notice! there are way worse things in life. i don't like that i have them, but i'd wear a bikini if i were thin enough. i cant see people really caring that much. i guess becuase i dont!!

please can i ask you a question ,,if you have a partner ,,does he see your tummy ,,would he touch it ? would you allow him ? just interested

Unfortunately there here to stay. They do fade in time but dont dissapear. my youngest son is 21 now and its a part of my body ive had to accept and deal with. i do find having a tan makes them less noticable and makes me more confident but they are something we just got to live with.

Laser removal of stretch marks can take lots and lots of treatments rather than just 3.
It is by no means a quick fix and it is very expensive.

In the meantime, I would agree on waiting until you are at your goal weight or close to it incase you develop any more but there are cheaper ways to get Bio-oil and other remedies such as Palmers Cocoa Butter. I buy mine on ebay Bio-oil is £10.45 for 200ml with free postage so about half the shop prices.
