you cant always go by what ppl tell you or the news because one day something is good for you and the next day its bad. If there are healthy things I should know that has helped you in the process of loosing weight that would be great !

My biggest thing is sodium. Watch your intake because it will keep excess water in your system and is also bad for your heart. Check the sodium content of foods when you're shopping and try to buy items that have less.
Good luck on your journey! :happy:0 -
I've been on this journey for approximately 10 years! I am currently on yet another restart. The best piece of advice that I have been given is to feel good. It isn't about the number or the measurement. You want to get healthy and stay that way. Don't let the scale not moving frustrate you...it is the journey of getting HEALTHY.
Find good friends (online or in person) to help you, support you and hold you accountable!

I agree, the news changes their mind about what is good for you and bad for you every day. It is crazy. I lost 30 lbs last year, and am back this year to lose the last 15-20 (not sure if I can physically lose 20 though). Here are some things that help me:
1. Drink alot of water. Seriously alot. I try to get 10 glasses a day (not just 8) and if I work out I up that by 2.
2. I cut down on processes carbohydrates (white flour, white pasta, white rice. If its white, stay away from it). Substitute with whole grains (quinoa, steel cut oats, amaranth, whole wheat pasta). This was my key to success
3. Keep low cal snacks around that satisfy you. If you are a person who likes sweets keep something low calorie around to snack on so you don't binge because you feel deprived of chocolate.
4. Protein and Fiber will keep you full longer, try snacking on foods that are high in protein and fiber. They are more calories, but will keep you full longer than something that is full of carbs.
5. The more natural you eat, the better you will feel and the better the food is for you. Don't buy frozen dinners, or processed foods. Make your meals from scratch. They don't have to be gourmet meals, but if you make them yourself you will know what is in them, and avoid many of the added crap that is put in processed foods.
I hope this helps.0 -
Try to eat more alkaline foods and balance your diet. MFP will help you with recommended dosages for a variety of substances. Pay attention to it and try to stay within the values given, if you stay under a bit or over a bit it shouldn't be a problem either, remember that those are only guidelines.
Also track what you eat on MFP, remember that we tend to under estimate so weigh your foods.
Get active and start exercising regularly if possible.
Most of all enjoy the process, anything that is fun and enjoyable will be a lot easier to keep to.
Good Luck!0
