Has anybody tried it and if so how were your results? I'm looking into leaning up a little more and was wondering if this is worth a try.

Please explain what your diet is.
What are your stats? You kinda look a little lean so I assume you are trying to eat a surplus and build muscle, yes?0 -
I have, some months back for 30 days, just as an experiment.
During those 30 days, I lost 13 lbs of fat and gained approximately 0.75 lbs of muscle (impressive as I'm female and was eating at a 750cal/day deficit)... and after the first 3-4 days, I felt AWESOME. Endless energy!
It was not a way of eating that I would want to maintain long-term as I'm a fruit-and-oat-aholic, but it was interesting to try nonetheless!0 -

Thanks for the reply. I could actually see me doing it for awhile. Pretty much low carb monday through Friday and a sorta carb loadindg saturday and sunday.. What did you use as your fat for monday - friday. I was thinking cheeses and avacados but, what else is low carb and has fat?0 -

Nah I'm not looking to build muscle I just want to keep what I have and drop bodyfat. I'm 5'9 @220 lbs and 13% bodyfat. I want to get around 10% bodyfat or less. I used to want to see how big I could get but, now I just want to be healthy and look good naked. My diet is at 150g or less carbs a day and 200g protein. As for fats I stay away from trans fats as much as possible and eat the others.(No fried stuff) I actually have a deficite in my calories. I eat 1800-2000 calories a day and at my size it's kinda amaing I havebt shrank. With working out and my size already I should be @ 3200 calories dailey.0 -

I was really unimaginative and did mostly meats & eggs cooked in butter. Do you have Di Pasquale's e-book? If not, find a torrent! It's pretty interesting and goes more in-depth than the articles you'll find online, with a solid list of food choices.0 -
I love it, awesome, awesome diet strategy. I've been on for 3 weeks now and lost I think 5lbs now and if I didn't drink so much this past weekend it would've been better. The best part for me is that I'm seeling more muscle definition because I'm losing bodyfat, I can actually see my deltoids and abs are getting better. The other plus is that you get to carb-up over the weekend and enjoy yourself a little. Go for it!!
Edit: I've done Atkins for 6 months straight and so far I think AD is way better.0 -
I'm doing basically this (a cyclical ketogenic diet). keep carbs low (5-10%) for the week, and carb up on weekends for energy throughout the week.
I've been doing a straight ketogenic diet (think Atkins, Dukan) for about 4 months, and switched to the above once I plateaued. I've enjoyed a ton of weight loss, about 30 lbs, while maintaining general muscle mass.
I'm about to switch to a targeted ketogenic diet: where you concentrate mini carb ups before and after working out, along with protein to maximize protein synthesis.0 -
The Anabolic Diet doesn't actually keep you in Ketosis. It gets your body into fat burning mode instead of burning ketones, so it's a little different.0

I suppose I meant that my diet didn't have the "Anabolic Diet" title attached to it, but it after looking at the basic tenets of the anabolic diet, it is exactly the same as what I'm doing. I'd be surprised if people following this diet don't enter light ketosis by the end of the week. it even has a 12 day induction period to use up previous carb stores.
burning ketones and going into "fat burning mode" are the same thing. both using fat as primary fuel source.Ketone bodies are three water-soluble compounds that are produced as by-products when fatty acids are broken down for energy in the liver and kidney.
The above is just a little info about what ketones are.
here's a link to the cyclic ketogenic diet: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cyclic_ketogenic_diet
edits: grammar. how do you format links?0
