I found tons of great recipes on Weightwatchers, but they list the meals by servings and points value....anyone know what 1 point equals in the land of weightwatchers? I would hate to have to recreate each of these to try and figure out the calories in each serving.

You could use one of the online recipe calculators (just copy and paste the recipe into it) to find out for sure, but I think I read somewhere that one point is roughly equal to about 50 calories. I'd definitely use an recipe calculator though, as that way you can calculate more than just calories (ie you can see the fat, sodium, carbs, sugar, protein, etc.)

my mom did weight watchers for a while and i believe the points have no caloric value but are based on a combination of the calories, fat, and fiber content of the food... i'd look up the ingredients of the recipes and figure it out that way.
  • I might be able to help a bit, having done Weight Watchers myself for awhile.

All the rough estimates I have seen say that 1 point is about 50 calories. BUT, WW points take fat and fiber into account as well. That can create a big discrepancy. For example, 1/2 cup of Fiber 1 cereal (in the US) has 60 calories and...I forget how much fiber, but it's a lot. Based on the WW formula, this is a 0 point food. Also, many vegetables are 0 points.

If you are OK with estimating, the 50 calories per point seems to be the best estimate. If you want to be more accurate, you may want to figure out the calories.

    Hope that helps!

Thanks for the help...bites when you find a recipe that looks pretty darn good, but no nutritional info what so ever.

I guess If I make one I will input the recipe to calculate the calories......I'm just trying to mix up my/our meals ( for the family) a bit....after 10 months baked, grilled and broiled gets boring.

I was really checking out the soups and stews...it's that time of the year to break out the crockpot & dutch oven.
