I've been coming across a lot of forum posts about the frustration of many dieters that are working out and making great food choices. So I decided to write in my blog about it in hopes people understand and wont get discouraged..

Great blog! I've been blasting through 1000s of calories the last couple weeks (lots of hiking), and the scale hasn't budged. Though I know this is normal, it is still hard to swallow. I definitely don't plan on giving up, and it is nice being reminded of how the scale can lie. Thanks :flowerforyou:

This quote made me "lol" HARD....I just might have to steal it:

"Sadly, this process can take weeks or months and so by then, most people throw their hands up in the air and eat 2 big macs like they just don't care."

I don't know if you meant for that to rhyme or not...but even so, I'm sooooo glad I wasn't drinking anything or I would have sprayed it all over the keyboard.

Great post, too!!! Scales can be downright malicious sometimes!

I skimmed the blog entry and while I completely agree with what you're saying, the first sentence doesn't seem to fit with the rest.
As I think you kind of mention near the end (the part about guilt being in the forefront of our minds), the mirror isn't actually a very good way to determine weight-loss success for many people. When I look in the mirror, it reflects only how I'm feeling about myself and my body at that moment, and not any sort of truth.

Add some drums, maybe a guitar, and you have yourself a song. "Throw your hands in the air like you don't care!" Sing it sister!!

Sorry for the confusion. Mainly, a lot of people can look to the mirror and see where they have slimmed down. I can look at my face and tell a big difference, and when I look in the mirror I can see my back fat shrinking (yahooo!!!).

"And if you don't want to do that either, then just realize that because of all your exercise progress, you will live longer if a Zombie Apocalypse hits planet Earth, because you'll be able to outrun all the people who just didn't want to try or gave up when the going got tough."

I laughed out loud at this!!! LOL!!!
