Terrified of what could happen........

I started my Journey here at MFP at 155 pounds which was the heaviest I had EVER been in my life. I'm 5'0 tall so I was needless to say a plump little turkey. I set my goal to 135 pounds thinking that it was acceptable and that I would never be in my highschool weight again which was 127. WELL........I'm 126 pounds now! Yaaaaaaaaaaaay me right?! Here I am thinking I would be happy and I'm actually terrified! I know I'm supposed to "maintain" my weight now but I'm super scared to gain it back. So I still consume 1200 calories a day which keeps me losing weight instead of maintaining it. Aiiiiighhh, anyone have advice or going through the same thing?

it is normal. slowly add a few calories each day. continue to exercise and eat healthy. You will be fine. You will stay with in a few lbs of goal waight. That is fine. you got this

Congrats on getting to your goal. I would suggest adding 100 cals so you are eating 1300/day, and stick with that for 3-4 weeks then up it another 100 to 1400 for 3-4 weeks, keep doing this until you stop losing and you would find your maintenance which may be higher or lower than what MFP has calculated.0 -
Congrats on your success!
With regards to the calories. 1200 seems low? If it were me, I would bump it up a little and at the same time maintain what ever workout regime I had while keeping track of my weight. If you keep on loosing bump up the calories a little more until you find the balance that works for you.
Good luck0 -
I'm going through the same thing. I'm really scared. I started just over 150 and am not 127.5 (goal was 128). I updated from 2 pounds to 1/2 a pound 2 weeks ago (1200 to 1390 calories) and lost the other 1/2 pound I had outstanding, plus another 1/2 pound. I just put "maintain" into mfp and it went from 1390/day to 1590/day . . . seems a little extreme to me, but idk.0

We are in the same boat! I upped my calories for a little bit. I didnt really gain weight, but the scale went up and down dramatically over a week. Plus I felt bloated from eating so much more. So, I lowered my calories back down to 1200, but now I eat back as much of my exercise calories as possible and I have a designated cheat day once a week (prior to that, i only had one once a month). Its been a month and its working so far. The scale has remained relatively constant.0

That is what I entend to do also. Congrat on your weight loss!!!0 -
You've had an amazing journey! 1200 does seem pretty low. Try beefing it up to 1500 and maintain your regime.0

I'm so happy for you!!! I'm not at that point YET but I should be in a few weeks. Just thinking about it scares me! I've never been able to maintain my weight. I know I'm going to do the same thing you're doing -- continuing to eat 1200 calories. I'll be terrified just like you!! I know I'm not helping other than letting you know that you're not alone :flowerforyou:0

Well done on reaching your goal. Just continue to eat and log, allow yourself to go over for a couple of days of the week it's fine! The thing thats so fabulous about MFP is that you always know where you are so don't be scared - you can always adapt if things look like they aren't giving you the best result that you're after. :-)
Good luck honey, xxx0 -
Congrats on your weight loss!
Upping your calories to "maintenance" will not cause you to gain weight. Weight gain is caused by consuming more calories than you burn. To lose weight, you eat less calories than you burn, in order to burn the excess. To maintain, you eat the same amount of calories that you burn. That is why your "maintenance" level of calories is higher than your "loss" calories. It may seem like an extreme jump if you switch from 2lbs/week to maintenance, which is why it's typically suggested that you slowly increase your calorie intake (thus reducing your projected loss/week) as you near your goal.0
