Fighting a case of "why bother"

I've been going to the gym religiously for about 4 months. Generally I spend about 2 hours there and burn 600-1000 calories. It's my time to focus on me instead of my 2 boys and husband. I've recently become one of those annoying people that LOVE going to the gym and get quite whiny when I don't get to go.
But I've hurt my knee. I have an MRI scheduled for Sat. to see what exactly I've done but until then basically the dr. said nothing but walking. I can manage about a 30 minute walk before my knee hurts too bad. I burn about 175 calories. I'm having trouble finding the motivation to do it. Yesterday I only went because my 3 year old kept bugging me to go. So last night I made a point of telling him that we were going for a walk today so he'd bug me until we went.
I very much have an "all or nothing" personality. Since I can't go workout for 2 hours and burn 600+ calories I think "why bother" and instead of being excited to workout and feeling energized after I drag myself out the door and feel like a bum after.

That's definitely a challenging situation. Did your doctor say nothing at all but walking? Or just nothing that puts stress on the knee? Would you be able to do strength training for your upper body and core? If so, this would be a great time to focus on that. It doesn't burn as many calories as cardio, but it can really help those inches go down.
This is just another challenge on the journey to better health. You can definitely master it. :flowerforyou:0 -
I can do really limited core stuff and upper body stuff but I only have 5 lb weights at home and I've been using 8 or 10 lbs at the gym but my membership is for classes only, I don't have a membership that includes the cardio or weight room so I have to make do with what I have. We're on a pretty strict budget so I can't run out & buy new weights. I did some upper body work this afternoon but I missed the burn from using heavier weights. I know it'll be okay but I'm feeling pretty frustrated.
