Caloric intake...

I haven't once been able to consume the recommended caloric intake MPF has set for me. Do you think this is going to decrease the amount of weight I lose? I eat 6 small meals a day and still don't hit the calories. I don't eat chocolates breads or many sweets period. I limit my portions and drink LOADS and LOADS of water. And NO soda!! (This is a big one for me).

But if this isn't going to help I need to re draw up my plans. Any suggestions would be welcomed. :)

When I first started I had the exact same problem. I was literally only getting 400-575 calories a day and it was killing me!

YOu just have to build up the intake...try a protein shake or something of that sort to help get your calories in.
I started forcing myself to eat a whole wheat bagel in the morning and slowly but surely my appetite came back...and I have been pretty steady so far. I have days where I dont want to eat so I just go for soup just to put something in me. This is still something I struggle with all the time. But really you have to eat...and trust me I know it is HARD!!
  • Try eating things that are high in caloric value, but still healthy. Peanut butter, almonds, and whole wheat breads are great options.

Thanks girls. I will start and do my best. Just a little more each day. And I didn't think of my all time FAV and that's PEANUT BUTTER!!!

You could try some soy milk as well. It's a good source of lots of things and it's good for you. I don't even feel guilty when I drink the chocolate kind.

I don't know how you guys do it, I find it hard to stay within my allotted calories even eating my exercise calories and I don't eat junk food, I always research what I eat beforehand. So I aim for between 1300 to 1700 calories per day depending on whether I exercise, I find the non exercise days are almost impossible to not go over my limit. I can't imagine my body being happy with say 800 or 900 calories per day, at some point during that day not matter how much water I drank I would be starving. Aren't you guys hungry when you don't get all your calories? Or am I the odd one out?

Okay Nobody should be eating only 800 or 900 calories. I think the lowest recommended calories is 1200 on here. If you go under you risk going into starvation mode, which in turn makes it near impossible to lose weight. (for more info on this search the treads)

What are you eating for your small meals? Try to get them to be about 200 calories each and maybe a bigger one with 300-400. That way you aren't looking for extra calories at the end of the day. You can increase calories of most foods by adding peanut butter or nuts.

I did not say I was eating that, but if you look at the others, if they are not making their calories, then they in all probability are coming in around 800 or 900 I wanted to know how their bodies felt, cause mine would not put up with it.

I eat a lot of salads yogurts and veggies and fruits with a small amount of meat for dinner. Yesterday I didn't eat any meat and had 1004 calories left from the entire day. So I really didn't hit many cals. It's not intentional it just happens.

you only have one small piece of meat for dinner, your protien must be pretty low. I try to incorporate protien into ever meal, and sometimes my snacks. Not that salads aren't good for you, but maybe you should choose something a little more caloric dense. Remember this is a change in your whole lifestyle forever not just a diet for the time being, in reality you don't want to eat only salad for the rest of your life, it gets pretty boring. Do some googling on healthy foods etc, there are lots and lots.

I like Lean Cuisines for my lunch and dinner (I don't like to cook). This would give you 600 calories right there. I always supplement them with vegetables. I get about 240-300 calories at breakfast with cereal, milk, and fruit. I have a 110-140 calorie slim fast bar for morning snack, more fruit for my afternoon snack, and a 100-150 calorie snack in the evenings (popcorn or flavored rice cakes). When I have an exercise day, I will throw in a bowl of soup at dinner or lunch.

Be careful....you are here because you want to lose weight. Don't sabotage your weight loss by killing your metabolism!!!
