Belly Button Piercings and Weight Loss (Icky)

Anyone else get their belly button pierced BEFORE having babies? I got mine done when I was 16 and <100 lbs. Since then I've had 2 babies, gone up to 167 lbs (thanks to bed rest with the second) and have recently gotten back down to 125 lbs. So... my belly button piercing looks ICKY. I never put jewelry in it, because if I do it just sort of hangs down. But even empty... it looks gross. The bottom part sags and it just looks like a big hole.
Any ideas what to do about this?

My daughter had her belly button pierced as well and the piercer said that there are changes with weight gain and lost.. The best way to fix it is to let it close and have it repierced after its completely closed. Plus there are belly button rings that are plastic and are thinner than regular rings that help keep its shape. One place that sells these is Spencers. Just food for thought. Hope it helps some.0

I also got a belly button piercing when I was a teenager and super skinny (gosh I miss thos days) anyway, I took mine out prior to having my son since I had gained weight and I got tired of buying jewelry for it when no one was seeing it except me and my boyfriend at the time. The hole closed up but it left a scar which when I was pregnant got streched quite a lot. Now that my belly is somewhat back to normal, still working on the weight loss thing, The strech mark that is now what my scar used to be is HORRIBLE! My only thought is maybe let it close up and then get it repierced. I don't think I'll ever get mine repierced as my belly is a roadmap of strechmarks now but good for you for wanting to keep it!0

I did not notice any changes after my baby, but it did start to get infected all the time and shift. I let it close and just had it redone a few weeks ago after losing 68lbs. It still does not look like it did, but I am hoping that once I tighten up more it will look normal.0

Find a piercer you trust and ask him/her for advice.
I lost almost 30 pounds since I got mine done and my original barbell is too long for it now, but I got some new, shorter ones that look great.0 -
I had mine done when I was 19 (35 now), and took it out because I started gaining weight and it got infected (in my early 20's). Mine eventually closed up fine, but I don't remember how long it took . I did use peroxide on the holes frequently though, so it would heal fast. I have like scars, little hole scars where the ring went through, but being it was so long ago they aren't that noticeable. Don't know if this will help you any but thought I would share! :happy:0

I let mine close while I was prego and got it repierced after my son was born and a bit of the prego weight was gone but it still looks nothing like it used to...0
