My shoes are ready for the trash. I have been searching online for proper shoes to wear for working out. I didn't think this was going to be so complicated.
A couple of weeks ago I went to the footlocker and sports authority and they didn't now their heads from their butts.. They just tried to get me in $100 shoes.
I do weights, I walk, I StairMaster and little running, more like a slow jog unless my dog is walking me.
Any advise??

I don't know what other people might like. But last night I went out with my mom and got shoes. I got a pair of new balance. They are supposed to be good. They are supposed to help your foot step down properly. I liked how they fit and held my instep. I was pretty happy with them.

Depends. How good are you at picking the right shoes?

Sometimes I get mine at a cheaper store with last year's models - who cares what the latest is right?

But I had some foot issues when I was walking 5-7 miles a day (since switched it up with aerobics and elliptical) and I went to a specialist shop. We have a local business called RunTex where the people watch you walk and pick out the right shoes for you. Mine were about $100, but I'm ok with that. They fixed the foot issue.

Don't mention the weights unless you plan on becoming a serious weight lifter - any shoes are fine for that. I would buy running shoes in your shoes :noway:

When I lived in Alaska there was a store called Skinny Ravens that would actually put its costomers on a treadmil to check there walkig/running foot path. From this they would find shoes that woul fit your foot based on how your pad landed when you moved, I got the best pair ever from them... I have heard other retails stores are starting to do the same thing, so I would try calling around your area. Good Luck!
  • Nike shox are my favorite. they're great for running, joggin, wealking, and just working out in general. I just bought the all black ones, which are about 100 dollars, but if you take care of them they will last a good year.

I am currently wearing shoes that are definitely not right for me and am in desperate need of new ones. There is a store here, in Portland, that does the same thing that mbaker mentioned and it's a free service. I also found a link that might be helpful. http://sportsmedicine.about.com/cs/beforeyoubuy/a/aabyb_shoes.htm
