Self Confidence Issue... Help?

So I just went to Express and purchased my first mini-skirt EVER! It's a size 10 and while I should be excited, I'm scared? I know I shouldn't be scared, but I am! My legs are finally shaping up nicely, which is great, don't get me wrong, but what if I bought the skirt prematurely and people look at me with a, "Does she really think she can rock that skirt" look?

I feel like maybe I should return the skirt, but I kinda love it? And I'm going to have to wear a skirt sometime right?

If you believe people are going to be ridiculing you when you wear that skirt, that's all you're going to hear, even if it's not there. The biggest part of wearing any revealing clothing is confidence. You're exposing not only your legs, but your hard work to the world. Trust in yourself and the work that you've done enough to own it, and there won't be any issues.

Wear it with confidence!! You've worked hard for your body so you deserve to feel good in your clothes.

I know it is deceptively simple, but just decide that you don't care what "they" think. Who are "they" anyway?

My "they" are the dudes down the street who I jog past every other day, while they sit in their garage drinking beer. I decided that I don't really care what "they" think. It's very freeing...

Congrats on the victory skirt :)
  • Trust me...I know it's hard. I'm guilty of it too. But you have to ask yourself..."am i comfy in this...or am all I thinking about is what OTHERS are thinking?"

To me, it really depends on how you feel in it. If you don't feel comfortable, don't wear it. If you LIKE it then wear it. I, myself, would not wear anything short because I'm uncomfortable with my legs even though I've been told they're nice. You gotta think about you =)
  • I've seen girls way bigger than a size 10 'rockin" a mini skirt. Most of them at 350 pounds, they think they are rocking it anyways !

You are on a mission, just hink how good it will feel when you are a size 8 and that 10 doesnt even fit any more !

    Wear it tomorrow to work!

    Keep it, reward your efforts!

I cant wait to buy a pair of pants in Abercrombie! Just to say that I could shop there if I wanted!

    Rock it!

It's all a state of mind.........You feel good about the way you look and you look great, so who cares what other people think. I don't know you on a personal basis but you have been my friend for some time on MFP and I wouldn't take you to be stuck up or be the type of person to let what others think about what you wear bother you. You have worked damn hard, and you deserve to wear that mini skirt!! You will definitely have people staring because they will be think "damn she's hot"

I understand how you feel. But I really think you should wear it with confidence, even if you don't feel it right not. Once you wear it you will overcome your fear and it will be a won battle!

You should definitely wear it if you love it! You've obviously worked hard to get to this point so now it's time to flaunt it baby!
Why don't you try wearing it somewhere where you'll only be out in it for an hour or a short amount of time.. Kind of like taking it for a test drive to see how you like it. Then once you get your confidence up in that skirt (*insert wolf whistles*), you'll be free and happy to wear it whenever and wherever you like! :)

I've seen some really big women rockin' some short skirts and they look damn good in them! I'm pretty sure it's all about confidence. I have a close friend who is a pretty curvaceous woman but her confidence makes her shine. If you want to wear that skirt, wear it! I really do know how you feel though. I'm a size 8 and I wore a dress out last Saturday to a friend's birthday at a bar for one of the first times in years and it took a lot for me to feel confident in it...we're just a work in progress :)
