Hello, I just found myfitnsspal! I found the application for my android first and thought it would be easier and less time consuming using my computer to track my eating n stuff.
So far I like what I see. I started my diet monday after finally deciding to focus o calories versus carbs (I had already lost nearly 30lbs on South Beath) the problem is I really like carbs! I'm going for moderaton and focusing on slowly starting to eat LESS PROCESSED FOODS!
I'm just tired of eating everthing that comes in a box/bag etc.
SO. I am looking for recipies if anyone has some good ones. But I am also dieting on a budget! SO if anyone has any THRIFTY DIET SHOPPING SECRETS. . . SPILL 'EM!
I am 25 years old and weight nearly 200lbs. I used to be in the military and run 5miles a day until i was injured and now am blessed with having chronic pain in my hip. I was in a comfortable relationship and let myself go. Now I want to lose that weight so that i can LOOK HOW I FEEL!
All advice is welcome. Thanks in Advance!

The recipes forum has tons of good easy recipes that are also tasty. I have and continue to have no restrictions. That's how I focused on losing weight and still to this day maintain my weight... restrictions lead to resentment. A fad diet is not sustainable in the long run and I suggest you focus on relearning how to eat properly from a well rounded diet. You sound like you are on the right track by cutting down and trying to eliminate processed foods.
If it can stay shelf stable for years and has ingredients that you cannot pronounce or is a "food" created in a test tube... just think of what it is doing to your insides. Do I still eat that crap? Yes. But the difference is now that I know it's crap so 9 times out of 10 I am reaching for the food that is grown in the ground, on a tree, swims in a stream, or can be shot in the woods. Real food.
This is how I have relearned to eat and learned what moderation truly is. Be excited because you're about to change your life for the better! It isn't something that you should dread. You'll feel and look better than you ever have, trust me.
Check the recipes forum and don't fall prey to the myth that eating fresh, perishable foods is expensive. It isn't. We are a family of 7 on 1 income and 95% of my food purchases come from the outer areas of the grocery store. I make more frequent trips to ensure I have the freshest food... but my food budget goes a lot further b/c lean meats, vegetables, and fruits can be recreated into a billion different dishes with the right spices.0 -
Are you also fleshandredlace? If so, I think I know you from pwned.com back in the day!
My advice would simply be to not diet. I don't, I simply eat in moderation. I learned how to cook, and prepare meals from scratch and in smaller quantity but I don't lack for anything, not even the occasional dessert, I simply do it all in moderation. Combined with a good exercise regime you'll never want for anything, and are far less likely to burn out.0 -

Yeah!!! I did have Red in my Gamertag there for a while! I don't frequent Pwned anymore, there were a couple of very strong/pushy personalities on there that made me feel unwelcome, if that makes sense. Plus one of the members had been harassing me. Pshhh why deal with that crap online when I already have to deal with weirdos in real life? LOL0 -

^^^ This advice is golden! It totally works for me, too! :drinker:0
