this is my first attempt at really building healthy eating habits with exercise atleast 5 times a week. I am doing great! I started on Oct 6 and was using another site to calculate my food intake and this site is sooooooooo much better:) My friend edie belongs her now too, but she is shy to post. She has lost 5 lbs and I have lost 2. I measured this a.m. for the first time since the 6th and I've lost an inch in my waist and in my hips. I didn't lose anything the first 20 days because I was not exercising, and, I was also adjusting to estrogen therapy. I think that may have been the reason. But, I am not hungry, I eat from all 5 food groups, just in portions. I have weened myself off "daily" sugars but have had 2 small pieces of pie at my church potluck. I just drank lots of water and kept under my 1200 calorie.

I just feel if I can do this anyone can. That's such an old, overused statement but I just have to say it. If anyone wants to know me better, hear of some of the "recipes"/"snacks" etc. please feel welcome to write me anytime:) I am 134.8 and started at 137 and know that doesn't seem like much, but for me at 55 years old!!! Im all excited about getting into my wranglers again(country gal)and that little black dress. And the way I feel!! Soooooooo much more energy, sleeping wonderfully at night and generally, just a whole new outlook on life:bigsmile:

PS Also I am keeping my fats at 20-25, 99% of the time:) I walk 4.2 miles per day, but think I will only do that 5 maybe 6 days a week. I also have a bow-flex to use and plan to start using that when I get back from CA. I will be gone the next 3 days. I will keep up my food journal as well as exercise down there.

Love to all, denise in Sams Valley OR

I'm glad to see that there's another country gal on here! I too want to fit back into my smaller wranglers. I have from size 2-12. Right now I'm closer to fitting into the 12 than the 2's which I may never get back into. Those size 2 days are long gone. I have a big butt, inherited from my mother. hehe. I want be able to log on for the next 5 days because i'm headed down to Augusta, GA for the Worlds in Barrell Racing

I gained .4 lbs this week. I was excited this morning when I woke up because I thought maybe I had done good but my scales at home and here at work don't show the same weight :ohwell: I work for a group of Cardiologist. But I'll post Sunday when I get home if it's not to late. I may have to wait and post Monday. :drinker:

I believe you will get back into those 2's:) Just as I will get back into my 3's:) I think "slow but sure" is the best way and healthiest. I was able to login and atleast keep up my food diary. I overdid the eating yesterday but actually only ended up with 1500 or so instead of under 1200 cal. It could have been worse as I was so hungry. I got off my schedule and that really threw me. But, I am back on today and am going to do a walk. I try to look at it as "my life depends on it" because atleast partially, it does. I don't like feeling awful because of a poor diet and this "food journaling" etc has changed my life:)

I've never been a cowgirl, but longed to barrell race when I was growing up. I was blessed with living in the country atleast and did get to ride some:) I ended up buying 2 horses after I turned 40 but took up endurance riding. But I've always been into the boots and wranglers anyway:) I attend what they call a "Cowboy Church" and yep, it's full of "horse peoples". I love it and have lots of friends that ride and many, own cattle etc. One of my dreams is to ride across the US with a few other folks. I also have a dream of setting up a Summer Camp for kids to come and learn to care for animals(horses, mini burros, chickens, a sheep or two, lol)and also learn about the Lord.

I would love to hear how it goes in GA. Hope you have a great time!!! denise in Sams Valley
