I've had my FT4 for a couple weeks now. I love it.

However, today I went for a walk/run outside and it was acting all crazy like.

First, I just started running and thought I'd look to see where my HR started. It said 164. I stopped cuz I thought "WTH?". It immediately went down to 85. So...I started running again. Once again, it was reading like 160s and I wasn't even huffing and puffing yet. Chest strap was under bra, maybe a little lower than the strap and was in the middle.

Another time, I was running and it said 85 and I know I ain't THAT fit!

I had my cell phone (Samsung Mesmerize) in my hand for music. I put it in my right hand in case it was too close to transmitter on my wrist. But at running my hands would be higher, closer to the chest strap. Was my phone doing this or is it a battery issue? Or was my chest strap just not up enough?

Did you wet the strap really well before you used it? Maybe the transmitters weren't wet enough and they weren't signaling correctly

I was wondering battery too. Who knows how long this battery has been in this thing before I bought it. Lately I've been working out and it seems like I can barely get into my zone. Yesterday I walked for 50 mins and outside of hills it said my HR was 85 or 90.

I assume I have to replace watch batter AND the monitor?

I always wet it and heck towards the end, I had it wet on my own from sweating. It's humid out there today!

I've had issues where my sports bra band interferred with the strap/receptor thingy. I just try to make sure they are not overlapping and so far, so good. I have the FT4 also.

I have the FT4 too and mine's done that, freaked out and whatnot, but it was the first time I used it for a water workout, i.e. doing laps. I just figured a little water got in and freaked it out. -shrug-

Who knows! Maybe you should give the company a call, they might know where the problem's stemming from..

No only the battery, you can have it changed at your local watch/jewelry store for under $13 for the whole deal (labor and battery). I wouldn't attempt to change it yourself, I've taken in my FT7 to a jewelers and been very happy with the results and I use it in the pool so I went to them so it would be sealed back properly.

Are you washing the strap under the tap every time you take it off, and washing it in the washing machine every five uses?

If not, that's probably the cause of your troubles.
