Do you do Beachbody or burn big numbers? Help?!

I'm 5'6" and I started out the year at 177. I finished a round of P90X and am now doing Turbo Fire, I'm on week 16. I did the prep schedule and am now on the regular schedule.
I've been hovering around 159 and 161 for almost a month. I exercise 6 days a week and eat relatively healthy. Admittedly I could cut down on sodium and sugar. Although most of the sugar I have is from natural sugar. This week my kids are going to VBS in the evening and I'm doing an extra workout with my SIL. I push myself hard every workout and usually burn big numbers. Except the past couple day I've lowered my intensity because I'm recovering from a sunburn but still am getting good numbers.
So far I've lost 17 pounds and set a goal to have lost an even 20 pounds by the end of the month. Has anyone else had this kind of trouble? What should I do? Eat more? Eat less? Wave a magic wand?

I don't think there's any one set answer. Are you measuring other factors as well? Muscle mass, etc. You could be gaining muscle and losing fat so your scale results appear even.0

My suggestion would be if it is financially affordable... to buy a bodybugg. That way you know if you are eating too little or still eating too much. It records your calories 24 hours a day as long as you wear it and it has seriously helped me visually see over a year how MY body works.. not just how the internet calculators tell me how I work0

You can try zig zagging your calories, try more cardio. Zumba burns a ton of calories...so does Insanity. I've done P90x and was right where you are now. When I started varying my calorie intake from day to day and doing more cardio, I started seeing the scale move. Cardio burns a ton of calories, where as in P90X, it's mostly strength training w/ a little bit of cardio. Don't know about TurboFire as I haven't done that.
Wish you much luck!0 -
How are you calculating calories burned? If you are not using an HRM I would only eat back 75% or so of the calories. If you are using a HRM are you backing out your maintenance calories? If not would be double counting those. If you HRM shows 700 cals/hour workout, you would have burned some had you not worked out, this should be deducted as it is already accounted for in your daily caloric goal through your maintenance caloires. So if you burn 1.5 cals/min while not working out you would have to back out 90 (60*1.5) from the 700 cals and enter 610 into MFP and only eat the 610, not he 700.0

We are barely making ends meet as it is. No extra money :-(0 -
I am no expert, but I know I have seen some people get over humps by doing a couple of days of lower caloric nets...I have seen some people get over it by throwing in an extra 400 calories a day for a couple of days...I have a friend that did an awersome job by changing what she did and focused on interval training only (that is what I am about to try after finishing the 30 day shred). I think this type of thing will be difficult to pin point, because you are already doing so good on exercise and you eat your calories back. My first thought would be to drop it to were you have 400-600 calories left at the end of the day, since you burn/eat so many.0

Oh don't worry, I know how that is. Living paycheck to paycheck right now, thankfully I got the bodybugg a few years ago when times weren't so tough0 -

My daily calories are at 1399, I used the Turbo Fire worksheet to come up with that number. I also wear a HRM and usually am under my goal.0 -
In May I tried zig zagging and it didn't seem to work. Arrgh! this is soo frustrating!0

Wait so you want to lose 3 more pounds by the end of the month? I'm not sure I am understanding.0 -

Yes that is the goal.0 -
So your get your calories burned during Turbo Fire from a heart rate monitor? You and I weigh about the same (I FINALLY brook the 160ish plateau like last week). I don't use a HRM. For my Turbo Fire, I select "Kickboxing" from the data base. It gives me like 600 calories for 55 minutes. When I do the strength or yoga I ended up with a lot lower numbers.
So I'm wondering if your HRM is accurate. What is your peak heart rate at during your work outs? I should get a battery for my HRM and we could compare....
Maybe try to keep your total (gross) calories to about 2300 or so...0 -

3 pounds by the end of the month should be no problem0 -

During workouts, my MHR is about 168. I hope it is accurate 'cause I can't afford to get a new one!0 -
I just keep wondering if maybe you should cut back on more calories??? Even though you burn big numbers, I wouldn't go over 2,000 cal. Making your meals smaller?? You may even trying zagging way down to like 1400 cal(total including exercise) one day then up to like 1900 the next and keeping your exercise the same. Or maybe not paying attention to how many cal. you burn and eating 1500 total/day??
Your calories burned are HUGE!!! I just wonder if it is accurate??? Maybe for a week estimate your calories burned lower to see if maybe it is wrong??? I hope it is accurate b/c that is awesome!! I don't burn as many calories doing the same workouts-of course everybody is different-I am a very small person so I am sure my cal burn is much lower.
I am just trying to brain storm for you to get you over your hump....we'll figure it out!! Just hang in there!!0 -
Okay, so I read through my Turbo Fire "Fuel the Fire book and hopefully I've got things figured out. I went through switched my goals, ad reduced my calories. We'll see what happens.0
