Stretched skin: does it go away in time?

I was just wondering...I have two kids, and my belly looks like it...I've lost some weight, but I am not at my goal weight..so I was just wondering...will this droopy, flappy skin pouch ever go away? Or deminish some? I'm at 175 now...just wondering what it will look like at 155 lbs....any one with pics?

I went from 280ish to 143....mine never did go away... :-(

As I've built muscle, my saggy skin isn't so saggy anymore. My belly is probably the most unattractive part on me. I've also had 2 kids and while there isn't a ton of fat left on my belly, it definitely looks like a mommy belly. I can't do crunches or much ab work - so I have to do circuit training and running to work on it.0

i went from 137 to 111 and my pouch went away my stomach is flat but still have the extra skin, I was told to wait about a year after weight loss and then you would be able to tell so I will do what I can til thanksgiving and see if there are anymore improvements... hopefully it will improve drastically if not there's always photoshop..lol0

my highest weight 275 lowest weight 140.
After my 1st baby it did. But it does take time. Drink lost of water and get a belly band. that will help. Give it time. Every person is different But alot of the time it will.0 -
I went from 215lb to 130 lb and mine went away. I dont know if i will be as lucky the next time i have kids so I am going to watch what i eat while being pregnant and stay active so i only gain 20 or so lbs, whatever it is they recommend.0

everyone is right, everyone is different.....it depends on a lot of things....age, genetics, skin elasticity, how much you gained, how long you had the extra weight on, if you've forced your body to stretch and stretch back a lot (yo-yo dieting...that's me!), and make sure you moisturize alot!!
Mine I don't think is totally going to go away this time, I think I pushed my luck two weight losses ago, before that it had always bounced back tight.....i will probably do a tummy tuck at some stage but want to get it as small and tight as I can before so hopefully they won't have to do the hip-to-hip incision and scar. In any case for sure, as you lose fat, it will look smaller, diminish some, flatten out some, but there might be some hanging, loose skin. I start to look better in clothes, but not so good naked....0 -
A really good article by an MD had interesting input. If you have flabby skin after losing weight, you need to lose more weight. Consider, pinch excess skin on the back of your hand. That is what lose skin looks like.
The reason your tummy stays flabby is that you lost connective tissue while you lost fat, and the subcutaneous fat is causing the skin to hang lose. Gravity is a b@tch. As you lose more weight, the fat in your flabby area will slowly go away, and if you are exercising, the connective tissue and muscles will fill in. Result, a tight tummy.
You don't get flabby skin on your legs, calves, thighs or back. Why would the skin on your tummy be any different.

Surgery is probably not the solution I would try first. Some horror stories about 6 weeks being laid up, and the drain tubes are out of a Nazi torture chamber .... ewwww0 -

I'm not interested in losing another 10lbs, so I guess it can stay on the saggy side. *shrug* Losing 10 more pounds requires me to eat WAY more calories in a day than I'm interested in eating (and yes, I said WAY MORE).0 -
I wanna know too!!! I hate not knowing what to expect.
I was probably 230ish when pregnant, have been 190-200 for a couple of years, currently at 177 and am already feeling the saggies. It's really making me worried about what to expect in another 30 pounds! Wish I could see pics from the people who say they still have excess skin to see just how much they're talking about.
I actually was at the doctor today and asked if there is anything that will help. He said do toning and strength training and maybe try Bio-Oil as it's good for stretch marks and might help.
I heard a gal say the other day "I'll never be a nude model, but I make a great mannequin." I guess I'll just have to cling to that for now!0
