Do you keep your old clothes in hopes that you can use them for DIY projects? I have lots of shirts/hoodies that I've sewn down to a smaller size (I do this when I buy shirts at concerts, I'll get an XL in men's and sew it down so the sleeves are longer), and I'm hoping to save a little money and a little heartache as I save some of my favorites from the donation box...

I also have some clothes that I've sewn down when I lost weight before and regretted it when I put a little back on :ohwell:

I'm so not a seamstress...but I have a lot of pants that are too big that I wish I could take in or something so they don't look like parachutes until I can get into the smaller ones.

I have a basket of old favorite t-shirts and tank tops I am planning to take in. Was also thinking of making a couple of skirts from pants. Would love to see how others have recycled their old threads.
  • Once I lose some weight I'll definitely be making some things from my old clothes, I'll make sure I do a post :)

I never do anything with pants, I usually get cheap pants from Old Navy anyway so it's not worth the effort for me to take them apart, re-measure and sew... I mostly wear skirts anyway, so making skirts from them sounds really interesting!

I saved all my old jeans to use for felting knitting projects in the fall.
  • That's a good idea!!

I have a massive stash of clothes that I'm totally anxious to reconstruct when I've hit my goal. I've always loved picking up awesome clothing and remaking it - I'm the queen of turning oversized tees into fabulously fitted one-of-a-kinds. ;D

Honestly, going crazy in my stash of "this is gonna be awwwwesome!" clothing is probably the thing I'm looking forward to the most about losing weight!

Wait, how do you use jeans for felting?

I believe you can speed up the felting process if you wash it with jeans? There must be other uses though, I've never tried felting before!
