Torn ligaments in ankle :(

Almost 2 weeks ago, I missed 3 steps and tore 2 ligaments in my right ankle. I am a hard-headed RN. So, I put an ace wrap and velcro splint on it and continued to go on about my day and go to work. I tried to workout but the pain was too much.

On the 8th day, I was finally hurting enough (and thought I may have actually done more damage than just a sprain) and went to the doctor. The MRI showed 2 partially torn ligaments. I was placed in a cast and told "NO weight-bearing".

I am frustrated by not being able to workout. Any ideas?

I go to the Orthopedic MD on Tuesday. I am hoping for encouraging news...

Shadow boxing, swimming possibly if you can with your cast. You could also do stuff on your knees. Pushups?

So sorry to hear your bad news :(

You could be out of action for six weeks - or six months.

You can work your upper body - if you are already doing weights you'll know there is a lot there you can do.

Once out of the cast, there is swimming and you'll be given a physio program (well, in the UK you would) which would still burn cals.

Once you get stronger, apparently cycling is good.

Hope the news on Tues is good xx
