I have found that while eating a meal....

If you put your fork down in between bites it will take longer for you to finish your meal but you will feel fuller quicker.
It takes time for you to have to pick up your fork, put food on a fork, and then put it in your mouth. I've noticed that when I remember to do that, I don't eat a lot and I already start to get full after only eating half of my meal.
Just a quick tip for everyone out there.

I do that and take a sip of water after every bite. It has really really helped me in my portion control, especially at restaurants when the waiter is slow to bring me the box I ask for to put half my meal away.0

There's actually more to it than that. Putting down your fork also reminds you to assess how hungry you actually still are. Often once we start eating we don't even think about it any more. If you put down your fork with the intention of taking your time and stopping when you're full, you'll be more inclined to actually ask yourself if your still hungry at all.
I'm glad it worked for you!0 -

LOL. Me too!0 -
I've heard that it takes 15 minutes for your body to recognize incoming food as far as satiety. When you eat slowly, it gives your body time to recognize you've had enough before you have too much. Definitely a good plan!0
