The plateau

Since June 26, I have lost nothing. I actually gained 2 lbs and I have yet to go over my calorie goal.

I am not shaken. I have gotten mad and avoided the scale a few times, but then return to weigh in and be slightly disappointed, just for a moment. Why only that long? Well my body can't hang on to this weight forever, I am eating to lose. I have shaken up my routine, worked harder on my fat intake and see some areas to improve. But I just can't be mad.

Why?

Because this time last year I struggled to walk any more than a mile.
I had stomach pains and managed my sugar levels with a drug
I weighed at least 39 pounds than I do now and lost my breath putting on sneakers.
My face was so bloated and my chins were too...yes chins. I have only one of those now.
and I wore clothes that I can only find in PLUS SIZE section. I even had someone wonder if I was pregnant, more than once.

So, I cannot be discouraged. I am doing the right things, I am seeing the results. I can run, jog and walk further than I could imagine, tote my crap to the beach and want to walk the edge as soon as I get settled. I crave fruits and veggies and my sugar level is a normal without the medicine. I walk no less than 3 miles and I breathe easier and every morning I wake up and like who I see in the mirror. Sure I am still considered obese by measurement and my BMI is up there and have many pounds to lose to get to goal weight. But every day I am working on that. Every day it is only going to get better and easier. I am not in this for the short term, this is a life endeavor, and I am proud. I am happy and I am okay with the Plateau...for now. :)

Any of you have been on a plateau? Did it get you down? Sometimes this is a mental game as well as a life plan.

You can break through your plateau. I promise. You're doing all the right things, and you've learned some incredible habits. Now that your body is used to what you're doing, it's time to make a small change.

I don't have advice...but I wanted to help motivate you! You're doing great and don't let a little plateau get in your way! To lose weight and keep it off requires your mind to be in the right place and your body will follow and surprise you!

Yes I am currently plateauing and I feel very frustrated, I've been working out and watching my calories and I just do not know what more I can do. I tried to start toning but I feel like I'm going no where.

Just reading what you have accomplished is inspiration to me! :flowerforyou:

I am on a small plateau now too, also gained a couple of pounds. I tend to think of it as water weight, but really it doesn't matter, since the scale is going in the wrong direction. I've read a few posts about this in the past, and most people suggest eating more calories. If you're eating 1200 calories, eat 1300 (100 calories of a healthy snack) and see if that jump starts your metabolism into doing something again, or change your work out a little. The first time I plateaued, I just made some small changes in my diet and then lost 4 pounds in a week. So, I am hoping the two pounds I gained and a few of their friends will be leaving me in the next week or so. I tried changing my work out up a little this time, backed off the weight lifting a little and added some more cardio and yoga. I don't know if it will work yet, but hey, if it doesn't it's not a failure or a set back, it's just one more step in the journey.
