Hey Yall! I'm bored at work and I thought it'd be fun to share our secret weapons and little tricks for losing weight and sticking to it. Here's mine!

1. Sugar free pudding snacks- 60 calories a snack, vanilla or chocolate, and sooo good. They really do the trick when I'm craving something sweet and my naturally thin roommate :grumble: is eating jelly beans or reese's.

2. 100 Calorie packs-any of them are great because I'm a big chip snacker (or was!!) and they come in most chip types. My current fav though is 100 calorie pop corn. I went to see Saw V last weekend and popped a bag to stick in my purse before we left! My boyfriend ate the 1,000 calorie stuff while I snacked happily on mine

3. Lemon Juice and Salsa- my school has a salad bar and thats what I ussually do for lunch, some variation of about 5 salads I've created. The only low cal options for dressing are light ranch-gag me- and italian dressing. Well italian dressing gets REALLY old but vinegar alone doesn't cut it for me. So one day it was like a eurika(sp) moment- sqeeze a lemon wedge on the lettuce, ad the other componets, and top with salsa! 2 tbsp only 10 calories!!! And way better than eating itailian every day.

4. Spinning-and the toughest instructer out there- on of my good friends teaches a spin class on campus and its awesome. If I go full out the whole class (55 minutes of spinning , then a 5 minute stretch) I burn almost 750 calories. On my wimpiest days I still burn off 600. And the class I go to is on thursday evening so it give me calories for the bar later

So whats your secret?

logging everything BEFORE I eat it. It's so hard to back track!

I am getting better at it but planning ahead (even if 5 minutes) sure makes life easier!

This made me remember that my kids used to eat their green beans like french fries and dip them in ketchup.

    Water, water and more water!

Complex Carbs to keep me full - Brown rices, whole grain tortilla chips, multi-grain english muffins, oatmeal, Fiber One!

Lean protein like lite string cheese, yogurt, chicken breast, egg whites, etc

Lots of fruits and veggies. I always make sure to have frozen broccoli, spinach and some "stir fry" type veggies around in case! Frozen rocks! Just as healthy and it keeps better.

And healthier "treats" to have at the end of the day. In the Summer, I will have a serving of light ice cream (Edy's and Breyers flavors are SO good!) and right now, I will sometimes toast an english muffin and put on 1 tbsp of peanut butter or nutella, or a fiber one toaster pastry(Love the brown sugar and cinnamon), or last night I had 100 cal pack of popcorn mixed with 100 cal pack of m&ms! Gotta have my treats!! LOL!

Lotsa veggies to bulk up my meals. I love frozen veggies, too, Tam ... I've read that they are even more nutritious than a lot of fresh ones because they are frozen immediately and haven't been sitting in a truck/on the store shelves for days.

Something I'm still eating from my South Beach days ... Ricotta Creme ... except that I make it with 1/2 c low fat ricotta and 1/2 c of fat free cool whip. It tastes sort of like cheesecake... is moderately low sugar & has enough protein to keep me from waking up at 4:00 in the morning starving.

Sometimes I'll chop up an apple & sprinkle it with cinnamon & microwave it, then stir it into the ricotta stuff ... or swirl in some low sugar strawberry spread ... or flavor it with different kinds of extracts. I can eat a lighter dinner knowing I've got this filling treat coming up in a couple of hours ...
