Special laundry detergent for exercise clothes?

Just a very random thought/question. I've seen special laundry detergents at the store that are specifically make for athletic clothing. Are they any different from the stuff for regular clothes? What's the benefit?

I've always wanted to try them because I am a sucker for trying out a new product, but isn't laundry soap just laundry soap?

Just wondering if anyone has ever tried it or know what it's supposed to do different.

I suspect they are very effective.... at taking the money from your pocket and giving it to the manufacturers!

I wash my gym clothes with my regular clothes, i'm not spending my money on different soap to wash my two pairs of pants..

They're the same as all other detergents - full of a bunch of filler.

I make my own. In 10 minutes I have enough for 5 or 6 months. It takes 1(ish) Tablespoon per load and costs about 3 cents per load. Best of all....it works GREAT!!!

I haven't seen these but I suspect the benefit to relief you from the weight of your cash...

I'd never heard of such a thing but now I have a question for anyone who might know! I do Taekwondo wearing a white uniform. I have the worst ugly yellow sweat stains in the armpit area and just can't seem to find anything that will remove it! Do any of you wise people have a trick that will work? It's part deodorant/antiperspirant and lots of sweat!
  • Tide sells a laundry detergent sold specifically for sweaty exercise clothes, it works REALLY well.

Since it's white why not throw some bleach in when you wash it next time? (Wash it by itself or with other whites, though! and if your machine has a specific place to put bleach use that, it dilutes it properly for you)

I've never gotten them out once they are there. I tried soaking in bleach, OxyClean and hang drying in the sun. In the past few years it's taken a lot longer for them to show up on my workout clothes if they ever do.

Hmm, I'll have to try the Tide. I think it's about the only thing I haven't tried! Vinegar and lemon juice both do a better job than most of the commercial things I've tried (including bleach if you can believe it!) With either of them I made a paste with that and baking soda and rubbed it in really good then let it sit awhile. It did help but I've never gotten them "clean". I'm getting close to shrinking out of this uniform so hopefully I'll get a new one soon but I'd love to figure out how to avoid them in the first place! So ugly looking!

I am in LOVE with Tide Active. I use it on all my clothes. It smells wonderful... I agree I am not buy a bunch of different soaps so it is my only one, plus Tide always has coupons. My hubby is always working in his garage and it works on that stuff too
