Exercising music

Does anyone else do things like Spin/Body Pump/Combat etc and find the music REALLY dull? I've just pumped my way through a class - I thought the aim of exercising to music was that it was supposed to pump you up - this was dire. Too much of that techno/disco pop nonsense - we're not 12 you know. I just wondered how everyone else viewed the importance of music in fitness?

Definitely agreed. I organize my own workouts now rather than a class, so I turn the satellite radio to "Heavy Metal" or "80's Rock", because if Danzig can't get you pumped for a workout... no one can.

When I take a spin class, I tune out most of the music, and just try to use the beat to pace myself. When I run, I use my own playlist.
