Hi all,
Is it worth while investing in a heart rate monitor, one which shows how many calories you've burned?
I'm planning on starting 30DS tonight and wondered how you know how many cals you burn if you don't have one.
Thanks,
Roo

I have one and I use the numbers from that over what you get on this site. I figure its probably the same algorythm (Spelling?) but it is to my height and weight and heart rate so its probably more accurate. Plus, I can look mid exercise and see what I have burned and decide to go longer than I planned just to get my numbers up there. Helps on that jog when you feel tired and need some extra boost to make it that extra mile.0

Worth it? IMO it's absolutely vital to success.0

Hi I'm burning around 200-240 cal per Level 1 but I'm using a Polar FT40

I've never seen one of those, where do you find them??? Sounds like a really good idea if they aren't to expensive0

YESS!!! YESS!!!! YES!!!! I recently got a Polar FT7 and I love it. To my surprise, the cardio machines at the gym were WAY over estimating the number of calories I was burning - even after entering my weight into the machine. Some of them (elliptical, i.e.) were over estimating by as much as 100% - So if I really burned 300 calories, the machine was saying I burned 600. I couldn't believe how "off" they were. I love being able to know for sure how many calories I'm burning, especially when biking or walking outdoors. To me it's an invaluable tool - well worth the $82.00 I spent for mine!!!!!! For the UK, a lot of people go off Amazon... they have pretty good prices.
As far as brand goes, get a Polar.. they really are the best. I have the FT7 and absolutely love it!0
