i am in the middle of reading the book Primal Blueprint but I am confused about a few things.....
Lift heavy things....what does that mean for women exactly.....15lb free weights too light? how many reps are considered enough....usually a trainer tells you to get to 8 and push for 12 and if you can get to 12 easily your weights are too light....so is it the same for Primal?
I fell off the low carb wagon thanks to making cupcakes for the kids for my birthday a week ago and since then have made a cornbread and a few other major no- nos and went to town on all of them....
The sad thing is that if I need to do well the kids get screwed over since for me a "sliver turns to a slab turns to a slob" Quote by Richard Simmons
I am the kind of gal with a majorly addictive personality dad was a drunk and mom has mental and type 2 diabetes issues so I really have to be on my game.
Funny I am not a lush or a drugged out mess and can have wine in the house and never go overboard, but carbs....bread, sweets, chips and wham I am basically an addicted mess.
Slowly coming back around to getting back in to things and need help. All that hard work and its basically glued to my waist and hips all over again.
I am still contemplating if i ever want to go back to charting my diary again since it is a pain in the butt...but have to consider doing something.
HELP!!
ps I have chips and ice cream in the house now and am fine with it if they aren't opened or if they aren't the flavors I like or in a different room in the downstairs freezer but other than that, I could go nuts at anytime.
White knuckling it is no fun!

yeah - white knuckling is no fun-you said it sister!
What helps me with these types of issues are two things. One is when I feel that "need" come on, you know the one that pushes you into the cookie jar, I simply have to make myself do something else that is so entertaining or challenging that I can forget about the dumb craving.
The second is that I've made myself study, research and learn about good foods....and why these sugary or salty carbs are just plain bad and unhealthy.
sounds like you are doing that already.
Best of luck, it's not easy BUT a new mindset is attainable to the point that you'll look at a bag of chips, etc. and simply feel no urge.

Lifting heavy things can be anything. Weights, rocks, tree trunks, your body (via pushups or chinups). Just strength training in general.
There shouldn't be anything different for women. Lift something that feels heavy for you. Believe me, you don't have to worry about getting too buff.
If you're having a hard time sticking to it, or getting back on the wagon, I find keeping track of the foods helps. Makes you accountable.
You'll know the pain in logging in here and log a chocolate chip cookie0 -
Don't worry about falling off the carb wagon. I find the weeks when I eat some kind of carb, I lose more weight. It sort of reboots your metabolism and makes your body appreciate the lack of carbs during the week.
No worries!!! 1 cupcake will not make you or break you!0 -
I struggle with wanting to give my kids the treats they like but not being able to control myself if I have it in the house too. I can't jsut have one piece of cake... it's like I have to kill it or something by eating it all! But my kids like desserts and treats. What do i do? I dont' leep it in the house. I think it's much more beneficial for my kids to learn healthy eating habits and to have a healthy mom. If they ask for dessert, we have fruit. Sometimes we will go out for a treat where I can buy 1 serving for each of us and have no leftovers. Or we will all share. Even better if we walk to the ice cream parlor or wherever. I have let my kids be my excuse for me to eat like crap for long enough. No more!!0

I make diet soda cupcakes for my kids and they LOVE them, that way if I have a few it's not AS bad. I also give the extras to my neighbors, so I can't be tempted (they love me). Anyway so you fell off the wagon, pick yourself off, dust off the crumbs from that cornbread (I love cornbread), grab my hand and I'll help pull you back in the wagon.0
