machine calories vs HRM calories...hmmm

Okay- I may have found out why I'm only losing tenths of a lb/week! I have been over calculating my calories burned. I bought a HRM (PolarF6) and I love it so far. I think it's very accurate! I was on my elliptical this morning for 20 min and the machine said I had burned 225 calories. My HRM (which was right on target with the machine's heart rate) said that I had only burned 178 calories! So, the heart rate was exact, but the calories was 47 calories less than that of the machine! Now, you figure if I had been off on all my exercises (I do exercises in the evening, too) how many calories that could be that I'm eating in a day that i'm not really suppose to be eating...YIKES! It's still less than what I used to eat, but still! I did two videos last night and burned 452 cal in 50 min (they are beginner videos) according to the HRM and I felt pretty good about the accuracy of it! I think my HRM is going to be very addictive!! What an eye-opener

I think you will be very happy with one! It also motivates me to exercise (which I never dreamed of anything being able to do that:laugh: )0
