I started this site back in November. I started out good, but like other diets I was on it seemed like the weight wasn't decreasing. I lost motivation and quit tracking. In May I saw my OB/GYN for a routine visit and discussed with her my struggle to lose weight and that I was scared. At 5'2 and 242 lbs., I was a train wreck waiting happen. Basically, I was desparate for help. She recommeded I see a Bariatric specialist. She wasn't suggesting weight loss surgery, but she explained this type of physician specializes in weight loss management. It was the best recommendation I've ever received! I met with Dr. A on June 10th and I'm down 11 lbs! She did thorough lab tests and discovered I'm Insulin Resistant (metabolic disorder). I'm so glad to know why I've been struggling with my weight for so long. I'm on a high protein, low carb diet. It was tough for the first month, but I'm adapting and seeing progress. My goal is to lose a pound a week. I'm in this for the long haul!

I welcome all the support I can get from this community. If you want a friend to help support you, please send me a friend request! :)

Sounds like you are on the right track now! Way to go on the loss. You can do this with the right mind set and I believe you have it. Keep up the good work!

I have a question for those who have been doing this awhile.. I just started watching what I eat and working out consistently for the past 2 weeks. How long does it take to start noticing a difference? I am pretty athletic to begin with, and was just recently diagnosed with a thyroid problem but am back in normal range. So, what the heck is taking so long?

Jen, I am with you on this. What takes so long to get the weight loss started. I started this about the first of the year or something like that and my weight loss is zero and this is July. I followed what I thought was the program, but did not see results. I did my profile again tonight and got different numbers for calorie counts. Ok, I am back, you are back-lets succeed together.

It took me about a month before I started noticing. Are u doing measurements? There was a point when I first started that I was losing no weight but was losing inches.
