Today I hope to get some weeding in as my yard looks a little yucky. I also need to clean the house, go to weights class, get a walk or ride in, and go to yoga. oh, and stop by the store and make soup. I need to get my flu shot too, but I wait until tomorrow or Friday since I have weights tonight. So, a good active day for me.

I got my walk in yesterday and was watching the Biggest Loser. I really have a love/hate relationship with that show. I really want everyone to win and be happy, and Bob is the best. Last night was "Eat this, not that" - I almost had a coronary. So - one of them was which is better for you a sandwich wrap with the works or 18 bottles of light beer - NOT which has fewer calories, which should you eat - they were similar calorie wise, but my god, more than 1 or 2 beers is not good for you by anyone's standards! Calories are not the only thing people! That would mean a 300 calorie candy bar is a better choice than a peanut butter sandwich. That bothered me as well as all the shameless product placement - including that guy's book. I would love for them to have Pollan or Nestle on the show "all this processed food is garbage!" - that would crack me up.

Rant over, have a great workout today!

Yea, getting to post early today! I am going to do my aerobics video and then dishes and since it snowed here last night I am definately not doing anything outside. Hubby walked the dog:( so I can't count it today. :ohwell: What channel is the Biggest Loser on, I've heard about it but never seen it Mary.
I would definately choose the wrap, over beer anyday, but if it was wine I would have to take a closer look lol.

We have a winter wonderland here on the hill. About an inch of snow. Not much but it is the sticky stuff and the trees look beautiful. I love winter trees. Before too long I will be dragging out the snowshoes! Have a great day everyone.

I was having the same rant when I watched BL. Yes, a burrito with "the works" has more calories than breaded, fried chicken nuggets with cornsyrupy bbq sauce, but it also contains, oh, I don't know. . .actual nutrients and some fibre. Pretty short-sighted, I think.

Today I'm hoping to be half as productive as you, Mary. I would really like to clean up my work area, so that I can actually work in it. I have periods of entropy, where I don't get work accomplished because I can't see my work. (I think I may hide it on purpose) So, after I write this, I'm setting my timer and de-cluttering it.

My union talks are still very tense. I did find out that I get paid (a little) for walking a picket line. I was talking to my husband (whose current job is to keep me positive, apparently) and said "but it's so much less than my usual check" and he replied "yes, but it's so much more than nothing." Brilliant. The custodian's union has voted to walk out with us, and there's talk that public transit drivers won't drive on to campus (major, as over 1500 buses a day load and unload on campus) if there's a strike. So, the university will have almost no teachers, a great majority of students/workers won't be able to get to campus and the bathrooms will be dirty. Sounds like a pretty strong bargaining platform, but yikes. I do have a twinge of conscience for the students. . .but I feel like if the university is going to charge them full price for an education, and use grad students and contract faculty instead of tenured professors to teach them, the money should not stay in administrator's pockets. . .it should trickle down. Ah, dilemmas. . .

Oh, and Mary. . .my yard also looks yucky, as there's snow in it. Ugh.

    Oh, and exercise. . .

this afternoon is bikram (my drugs seem to be alleviating my period symptoms, although I have a screaming headache right now) my water, my vits and some cleaning.

    Take care of yourselves!:flowerforyou:

So I turned off my 4:30am alarm and decided to give my body an extra 2 hours of sleep today. That means I need to do Shoulders & Arms and Ab Ripper when I get home. It's been crazy windy here and I swear my house was going to blow away last night! I'm ignoring the scale this week due to that TOM and I feel like I'm carrying extra water, which would make sense after the last couple days of sodium OVERLOAD! :noway:

Today I'm getting back away from processed food and drinking lots and lots of water. Only 2 days of P90x done and my body is sore! I feel it everywhere.....chest, abs, butt, thighs...you name it. (I love it! )

Well back to work for me. Have a glorious day!

I'm new, is this a new SBF challenge, or one that's been going on for a bit? Can I join it if it's already in progress? Just needing accountability!

It's official title is "Stronger, Better, Faster" - but all it is, is a daily post of our fitness goals (and other rants as you can see). For example: I try to do: yoga 3x a week, weights 2x a week, and cardio every day. I post what I did the day before and what I plan on doing today. Most people just post what they did though. It helps keep us motivated and we welcome anyone who would like to join!

V - I had the exact same rant during that one too! chicken nuggets = not food, it doesn't matter how many calories!

K - it's on the channel with the peacock - nbc maybe?

Carrie - wishing you the best in whatever you decide to do. Keep up the exercise! :flowerforyou:

Ok I want in the challenge! I do some form of cardio 6 days a week, usually walking but ocassionally a DVD. I do strength training 3 times a week on Mon, Wed, and Fri. So, yesterday I did my walk, which was about 34 mins at a moderate pace (thats all I have built up to so far:embarassed: ) and today I am getting ready to do a cardio DVD (probably Denise Austin?) and then do some strength training to another Denise Austin DVD.

I just joined here yesterday, and I love it! Its very inspirational and helpful! The only problem I have found with being here so far is that I spend so much time on here trying to read everything I can that I kepp pushing my "daily routine" later and later in the morning:laugh: But thats ok lol, as long as I get the job done!

    Thanks!

Okay then. I finished 2 marathons (6 days apart) & followed that with 2 weeks of rest, probably deserved, but still felt like a slug. Last Friday after 13 days of sitting on my butt, I did a 5 mile run, that Sunday I ran 10 with my running group, & yesterday did another 5. I'm planning on a 3-4 mile run with my mom this afternoon, & maybe yoga @ the club. Started my day right, 2 glasses of water (my usual 1st thing in the am), coffee:drinker: , toast w/ pb & an apple. Lunch will be my veggie chili & a salad. Dinner baked chicken, roasted veggies & maybe more salad. Popcorn for a snack, & some fruit, aiming for my 16-20 cups of water. I'm spinning tomorrow w/ neighbors, 3 miles Friday, & am supposed to do a 15 mile trail run race on Sat., if not though I'll run long Sunday with the group.

Is that how it goes? I'm sure I'm just excited to get started and my posts will soon be a lot less informative!

Welcome newbies! Very glad to have you here! :flowerforyou:
I wish I had time to comment on all the posts. About Biggest Loser, I've been recording it and watching it this next day which helps out with commercials and also with all the crud going on during the show that I don't care for. I miss the first couple of seasons that were less emotional and less promotional. Ha ha.
My back is still sore. I am debating doing my push ups today or not. I may try to get Shred level one in later.
My mind is on the grocery list this morning. I am going to try my best to do the elimination diet next week and see if there are any more foods bother me and my son. It's not going to be easy. I'm liable to be grouchy and irritable because I won't be getting to eat "normal" thing, but it will be good for us. And I might actually lose a couple of pounds! I think I might start it on Monday. Weekends are hard to eat right so Monday might be good. It will give me five days to get it under control before being really tempted again! I hope I can do this! I hope the new recipes fit in the budget! I also hope I can get through the testing before Alex's birthday in 3 weeks because there will be cake! LOL
I'm done rambling. Have a good day!

Okay, so I took a break from MFP for a while and now I am back and serious about getting back into it and I think this challenge will help keep my accountable.

Yesterday, I took my first pilates class, so today my abs are very sore, but I still went to the gym and did 20 minutes hard cardio (I'm too fatigued to do more then that) and then weights and crunches. I also took a walk to the post office this morning (in the snow, mind you!)

On tomorrow's agenda is my first yoga class. I am hoping all these classes will help me tone up.

    Have a great day everyone!

Welcome to all the new SBF members!:flowerforyou: A) never apologize for what you do for exercise! Any exercise is great, it means you tried and that is all that matters. B) post whenever on whatever is good for you. There are no hard and fast rules here. C) Have Fun with it! See you all on the morrow.

    M thanks for the info.

V sounds like a crappy deal all around. I feel for you.

MM cake on birthdays is a must! LOL

um, I don't know how you guys feel about Steven Colbert, but his interview with Cookie Monster is pretty good:

I am feeling more myself and much better today. My back isn't as sore anymore, so I was able to do my push ups and I am about to do Shred. I feel better because I am eating better too. Although I do miss eating junk. Horrible I know.
OH! I made a really good choice yesterday, probably the first one in months! I wanted to go to Sonic SO bad and get the chicken strip dinner. I went back and forth about going. Finally, I chose to eat leftovers at home. I have to admit I was NOT happy about choosing the right thing! I was pretty mad at myself for not allowing myself to indulge! But this morning I was glad I didn't. Just a small victory for me! (I still want to eat it though! )
