Breakfast, the most important meal, ever.

Over by nearly 2,000 calories for today. How did I end up so ravenously hungry that I stuffed my gourd with three cheeseburgers? My answer is: "I skipped breakfast." Yup. I woke up lazy, didn't hit the gym right away, and waited three hours to take a protein and fiber shake.

I am quickly discovering that having SOMETHING for breakfast (like in the first 20 minutes after I wake up), is really a big part of keeping me from wanting to have a huge mass of food later on.

So Ok, this is good. Not that I'm 2,000 calories over my limit, but that I know what caused it this time. And I know that tomorrow I'll be doing some exercise/stretching right out of bed, and then hitting the kitchen for a good (and healthy) BREAKFAST, which makes it not only the most important meal of the day, but the most important one for success.

Don't feel too down. We all have set backs! The best thing to do is realize where you went wrong and fix the problem. When you don't eat breakfast or anything at least 90 minutes after you wake up, your body releases a hormone called gherlin, this hormone sends a message to your brain of hunger and we end up compensating/binging later. The best the do is eat breakfast within an hour and your body releases a hormone called leptin, which tells your brain you are satiated and will ultimately control your appetite throughout the day. Good luck and just keep focused!

Oh, but I do SOOOO much better on my calories for the day if I just sleep through breakfast! That's my new weight loss plan - it's working okay for the summer but when school starts and I have to get the kiddo up and off that's gonna be a real downer ;0)

But seriously, I've learned that if I wait until I'm too hungry I make SUCH bad choices! I need to start cooking a meal or finding a snack when I start to get hungry and NOT horking out on the first sugar-coated yum yums I can get my hands on an hour later when I'm ravenous. Oh, and I've learned I REALLY need to have one reasonable helping of food, then force myself to wait 10-15 minutes before having seconds because I usually don't really need 'em by then, or at least not nearly as much as I thought I did.
