Hi all! I saw an ad for Bodymedia and was wondering if anyone uses one and if it's worth investing in. Sounds interesting but is it really accurate with it's readings? Can it be worn on your calf as opposed to the arm? I would like to wear it at work under my slacks since we are not allowed to wear a watch so I would assume an arm band would not be allowed either. I know I burn calories at work but don't know how to track it. Thanks for your input.

It's similar to the bodybugg. I don't think it can be worn on your calf but I'm sure you can go to their site or give them a call and ask. The way it works is by measuring your body temperature, pedometer and accelerometer so it can tell what you're doing for how long and how much that activity is increasing your temperature.

There is a monthly subscription for the service.

I liked it and the interface you can enter your calories eaten on that site as well. It goes more off of the premise of a total calorie deficit for the day so you really need to wear it for 23 hours per day and while you sleep for it to be effective in determining your personal calorie equation. It does break the cals burned out by hour, steps by hour as well and has good graphs for your food intake that are helpful.

But I like my HRM more for use with this site. I can easily plug in my exercise cals from the HRM into MFP and go with a net calorie number vs total caloric deficit.

Thank you for the info. Now I know I won't be buying it since I don't want to pay a monthly service fee. I wasn't aware of that. I'll go with the HRM instead.
