MFP exercise and calorie question

First off, I love this site! I use the app on my i-phone and it works out great to immediately put in my calories. I didn't realize how much I was eating and all the bad foods I was eating.
But questions:
So I have a set number of calories (which I think it a bit high but I try to stay under). When I exercise, and lets say I burn 300 calories, then it adds all the calories back to my allotted calories for the day. I don't know if I agree with this. Maybe a few extra calories but all of them? I don't ever eat what they put back but I was just wondering if anyone has any insight to this? One day the program told me that my calorie intake was too low b/c although I ate more than my allotted calories, but I burned over 600 calories that day. Does this make sense? I'm just wondering if I should eat more on the days that I burn a lot of calories. Thanks!
