Hiya,
I have been running for nearlly 4 months now, progressed myself to run 5-6 miles at a time after C25K programme.
I run most days, sometimes only 3 miles or so,it all depends on time really with a family and work. I am currntly down to 150ibs which is fab and im not complaining.
My problem is, i have lost nearlly 2 stones now and looking at measurements i havent really lost much on my legs, fair enough this will be down to muscle ect but i feel as tho my calf muscles and thighs are really big.
I kick box and do a lot of cardio. Will this even out in time or do i need to start something else to tone the legs down, any ideas will be fab.
Thanks in advance for any help.

Amanda

This is a big problem I have always had. I have always had big calf muscles, even at my heaviest. When I do lose weight, not much of my legs are fat, so I have lost inches in them because muscle is leaner, but my calf muscles just keep getting bigger, toner, but bigger. I have never been able to find a way to get them small, so I have just accepted that I will never have "chicken legs", but I've also accepted that I think having tone, muscular calves is also kinda sexy! So I keep doing what I do!

    Good luck to you!

Sounds like you got legs of steel girl..... Embrace your powerful stems and be proud that you can hold your own. :D
I too have just started running and am training for a 5K. Went from 189lbs and now weight 151 (give or take a pound depending on the time of the month) and have found my waist is getting smaller and my legs and arms are staying the same (I also do weight training 3X a week and cardio intervals mixed in with the running). Its ALL muscle. I try to focus on how strong my body is and not try to worry so much about my size. The more muscle you are building; the quicker you will burn calories. :D
(Just out of curiosity... are you of Scottish decent? I've notice that most ladies I speak with who are runners and of scottish decent have thick, muscular legs. It may be genetic)

Way to go on your achievement and keep up the good work. :D
  • I'm sure running has given you great legs that power you through your workouts! But if you really want to try something else as well I've found jump roping kicks butt! After a week I saw major toning differences! Just a suggestion!
