Yuip. I said it and it's the truth. I just don't like fruit. I think its a texture thing. It is really the only thing I am picky about but I won't eat a single kind of fruit. Am I going to die at a young age (half kidding)? Anyone else on the same boat?
I eat veggies. Not salad but veggies.
I'm weird! Buuuut I lost a lot of weight so I guess i'm okay but at the same time i'm kind of worried about my health.
Suggestions?

Have you tried every fruit out there? There may be some that you enjoy.....0

I think the food pyramid says "fruit and veggies" are one category. I don't think you have to have fruit as long as you are eating veggies. I talked to a nutritionist once who was not a huge advocate of eating fruit because of the high sugar content. I'm betting that you're getting your nutritional needs from the veggies you're eating and that the lack of fruit is a non-issue. In fact, according to this nutritionist, since you're not causing spikes in blood sugar from fruit, it may actually be helping you. Add in a multi-vitamen if you're not taking one already and you should be fine.0

WOW I never met a person that doesnt like fruit thats blasphamy in my household lol JK. Alot of people cut out fruits to begin with when they are hard core dieting. They cut it out because of the sugar. Most trainers and dietitions aould say that is not realistic but you dont eat it anyways so that doesnt matter. The one thing you have to conentrate is taking vitamins because fruits have some things that vegies dont. Other than that jsut make sure you are consistent with the vegies.0

fruit is beneficial to your diet and I would say keep trying new fruits.
But there are studies that say fruit contains too much sugar too.
In life there is a balance as we all know since were here.
I dont think its hurting you to not eat fruit, so long as you do eat lots of veggies as you say.
I would also pop a multi-vitamin to make sure youre getting some of the benefits there that you may be missing by not eating fruit.
Some of the benefits from fruit are anti-oxidants and fiber that could be missing from your diet.0 -
I don't eat a lot of fruit- I buy it and the kids end up eating it! I like bananas, kiwi, strawberries, and fresh peaches and that's about it! And I don't want them mixed!!!! :indifferent:0
-
I'm not a fruit-fan either, but I do like to add blueberries to my cereal.0
-
yeah, but there is more to fruit than its nutrients. I would try to fit some in there. There is a big difference between sugar and fructose. Definitely try to fit it in somewhere...even if it's mashed up in something else. Best of luck!0
-
Not a huge fan either. I make myself eat half a banana a day. I do love veggies though.0

If you really want to add fruit be sneaky.....applesauce cake, cereal bars with fruit in them, smoothies with fruit in them. How about fruit juice????? Cranberry juice with diet tonic, add a pretty paper umbrella and away you go.....
Or if you think its the texture try dried fruit, fruit roll ups, etc.....0 -
I just read all your responses. Thank you for all your input! I honestly think I am just stubborn and don't THINK i like fruit so I don't eat it. My mom said even as a toddler I didn't eat it! I think it is more mental than me actually NOT liking it at all. I do take multivitamins though...so hopefully i'm okay in that department!
Honestly....I don't think anyone can make me eat it. Now there's a challenge for you!!0 -

Ummmmm if you don't eat fruit, Mike deletes your account!!!!!!!!! Ok..just kidding but it's worth a try!:laugh:0 -
I like fruit but it gives me stomach aches. It seems I can only eat strawberries. So I guess I really don't eat fruit either. But I do have smoothies and put frozen fruit in them. Maybe you can try that.

Ha ha! Good one! Maybe I should start thinking, "If I eat junk food, Mike will delete my account!" That might help me!  :laugh:0 -
I have the opposite problem... I would eat fruit until I turned into a blueberry... like that chick in Willy Wonka!
But I could definitely live without veggies
I eat a few tho and make that work.0 -

no tomatoes even? mmmm they are a sneaky fruit...most think of them as veggies... so if you say you eat tomatoes.....YAY...they are so healthy for you in so many ways!!
fresh juiced carrot/apple juice blend...no texture to that......MMM0 -
I agree that you should try some sneaky ways to add in some fruit. You may even grow to enjoy some of them.
Do you like yogurt? What about trying some juice that has both fruit and veggies in it? That may help mask some of the fruit taste.0 -
cucumbers and peppers are also fruits, so you may be getting some and you never knew0
-
Hey! I like yogurt and smoothies! I eat yogurt every morning but am kind of lazy to make smoothies! I'm a college kid, haha!0
-
When I first started on here I would buy fruit, then throw it away a week later. After throwing 20 dollars worth of food away, I started trying it. Now I cant live without it! I started by putting it in my cereal and yogurt. Cut up in peices. Then one day I had a peach that was sent from heaven! From that day forward I eat it everyday!
those that know me know what is coming next!!!!!

I love fruit!
I hate that it's so expensive:sad: :grumble:0 -
if you love veggies you are probably getting your fruit without knowing it. cucumbers, tomatoes, avocados, squash, zucchini, etc. If it has seeds in it, it is actually classified as a fruit (with little exception). The point of fruits and veggies in your diet is to get the fiber!
Not to be too gross but fruits and veggies are the foods that scrape our bodies clean, and help get waste out. If you are getting 5 servings a day of veggies and you are including those with seeds in them then you don't need to sweat it.0
