Problem cycling calories

I had read several threads and articles on caloric cycling and decided it would be a good idea to add in a higher calorie day once a week. I decided on Wed. For some personal reasons and then started this past week. But I had a very hard time doing it. For One I had been eating per my deficit for several weeks and had developed sort of a routine. Basically eating the same things everyday. So I had to actually think about increasing my calorie intake throughout the day. And then. When I did do it. I felt like crap about it. I thought a cheat day would be fun but I am finding it rather stressful. A third problem is that being diabetic even on my cheat days I have to still watch what I am eating and can't really go out and splurge.

I see some people on here talking about having two cheat days a week and I can barely get through one!

Anyone else have this problem or have I just become a little obsessed.?

Also is the cheat day something I should stick with.? Basically I'm just increasing my calories to a maintenance level for that one day and skipping my workout.
