Hi everyone...:flowerforyou: So my queation really is off our whole weight subject, But i wanted to know if anyone new how the process of class registration, meaning the dates the system of the school gives out to register works. Why do some people from community college have more priority than others when the dates are giving out to register. My dates that they give me feels that they give me the last days to register becouse i end up being on waiting list for every class i try and get. Im soo Frustraded, I should have been done with my Pre-requesites already......Hope anybody can answer this????

P.S I live in California.

  • Regarding Community Colleges, returning students usually get the earlier registration dates. Newer students get the later dates.

A lot of times, they give priority to upperclassmen, so they get to register a week before everyone else, etc. I can't think of any other priorities they give, but there may be some.

yea its just cause you have more time to complete things and dont have to to take your classes in a certain order at this point plus your also prob. on the waitlist because alot of ppl take the summer off so they register for Fall classes in the spring

    - Upperclassmen get priority for registration. That way a senior doesn't get blocked out of the one or two classes needed to graduate.

    - Fall registration begins in the spring. Popular classes for the fall are normally full before the summer quarter even begins.

That's pretty much what everyone else already said, but that's been my experience. If that doesn't seem to answer your question, I'd go to your registrar office and ask them.

    Good luck.

At my bf's uni they also allow people with better GPAs to register before those with lesser GPAs. Were I went to school the registration turn was assigned just according to seniority.

This for sure. I was a community college student here in California as well and my registration dates got earlier and earlier as each semester came to pass. Of course, they also take into consideration how many units you've taken as well. Basically someone who has 24 units after two semesters would get a later date than someone who took 30 units even though they both have been students the same length of time. Definitely DSPS, EOPS, Vets and Athletes get priority registration.
