Swollen left foot

For some reason I am retaining water and my left foot swells quite a bit..last night it was so bad it hurt and my ankle was swollen. It is down this morning but I actually gained 5 pounds since yesterday. Has this ever happened to anyone else?

    go see your dr.... happened to me last year~ i had a stress fracture in my ankle

    I don't want to be an alarmist, but I would be concerned about unexplained swelling like that in an isolated area. You should probably go see your doctor - especially now that you have pain.
