active rest week -- ridiculous need for reassurance

Hey! I am between stages in my current weight training program which recommends a week off after every stage. I rarely comply.

I am thinking of actually doing this with a big exception that I will still do cardio (walk/run, eliptical, stepmill) for the week I have "off".

Now, here comes the ridiculous part. There is a small part of me that is afraid I will lose muscle/strength if I take 5 to 7 (err...It's unlikely I'll take 7, jsyk) days off of lifting. Tell me that's not true. Special bonus points for those who actually have done this in their own (heavy) lifting routine! Thanks for your input. I know I am silly.

The body does need recovery so you can come back rested and stronger so you can work harder. I would suggest cardio, walks active recovery. Take it easy but dont sit on your butt!~
