Just wrote a blog and had to copy and paste it to share with everybody because I am so proud of myself! Hope I can inspire someone! Thanks for reading!
6 months ago, and actually for my entire 29 years of life, I have HATED running!! I can not stress enough how much I hated running. I. HATED. RUNNING. About a few months into this journey of creating a new, happier & healthier me, I began running. Very short distances. The most I ever got up to was about 2 miles, and even up until today the most I had ever ran was about 3-3.5miles. On the treadmill because I live in Texas where its hotter than hell 24/7 and more humid than a rainforest.
Im not sure why I run, I just kinda love it now. And I swear in my entire life those are the last words I ever thought I would say! I would have imagined myself doing a million and one other awful things before I would ever picture myself running.
Today, I decided I was going to go 5 miles. Not sure why, just decided I wanted to do 5 miles.
I should clarify, I went 5 miles, but that included a 5 minute warm up and a 5 minute cool down where I was walking, so if you want to get technical, I only ran about 4.5 and walked the other .5
Anyway, back to the tooting of my own horn.. After my 5 min. warm up I ran 6.5mph with the incline set to 0 for 3miles, WITHOUT STOPPING!! Usually when I do my 3 milers, I will stop half way and walk for a few minutes or do intervals. So to go 3 miles straight was kind of a big deal for me. Then I walked for .5 miles with the incline set on 5, then ran a 6mph with the 5 incline for another .5. Then I lowered the inlcline back to 0 and ran 6.5mph for a little while, and then for the last 5 minutes I did something really insane. I upped the speed to 9mph (6:39min. mile) and ran for 30seconds, hopped off for 30 seconds then repeated that for the last 4 minutes of my run!!!! then ended it with a cool down.
Took me 55 minutes to complete and I went 5.01 miles. I am so proud of myself!!! I proudly call myself a runner! And I cant wait for the weather to cool off here so I can start registering for some races, I definitely want to get some 5k's under my belt, and then eventually work up to a half marathon. And honestly I may not stop there! 26.2 could be in my future.
Anyway, I never in my life thought I would run one mile, let alone 5 miles, and definitely never thought I would ever WANT to run a marathon!
I can not believe I never truly knew what my body was capable of. I dont think there is anything I *can't* do!
One of my favorite motivational quotes is "You must do the thing you think you can not do" Well, the problem I see with that statement is at this point, I dont think there is anything I can not do!!!
Everybody should strive to believe in themselves, we are so much more capable than what we believe!!!
So get out there!! Your mountain is waiting, be unstoppable, and above all else believe in yourself!!!!
Whether you believe you can or believe you can't, you are right.

You have truely inspired me to start running again as of tomorrow, i never thought myself a runner either but i love to run indoors, i actually did a 5km run in June for Cancer Research and i did it in 45mins that was with little training and i would say the ratio of walking to jogging was 70:30 so i think you would definately beat that and should go for it!
Thanks again for the motivation and good luck with your running in the future! x0 -
That's great! I have been thinking about starting to run for a while now. We have a treadmill here at the house, but for the past 3 months, the house has been torn apart because we were having a TON of work done. Now, we have the house back in order, sort of, but my roommate has a TON of stuff stacked on top of the treadmill so I still have to wait.
When I was younger, I used to play soccer, but was still never a runner. My boyfriend runs, A LOT, and I'm hoping to be able to go for a run with him once I move in with him (he's on the other side of the country until I move). I can't wait to start.
I'm excited to see if I can accomplish another goal of mine. You have inspired me to want to get started on it even sooner; thank you!0
