Sick of counting and weighing...

I haven't weighed myself in over 4 months. I know I've put on probably 10 lbs. I used to weigh daily, I used to weigh my food, every bit of it. I don't want to do that anymore!!! I'm struggling though, with being consistent. I'll eat good for a few days and then pig out. I'll exercise 2x a day for months and then sit on my butt for 1. I know I'm generally healthy, but I'm sick of the yo-yo everything. I want to find a way to just eat what I know is healthy, exercise most days, with an occasional splurge of food. I know that if I wanted to get down to a certain number that I could and that I could maintain it, but I don't know if that's the number that I should be at! I'm obsessing, that's what I do, and I need to let go of that, and the guilt when I don't do what I know I'm supposed to and just be consistent.
Sorry for the rant, getting it all out there for everyone to see and comment on might just help me though!

Before I joined MFP, that is exactly what I would do, but I don't know I think MFP grounded me, made me accountable for what I put in my mouth and for not exercising. With 5 kids, there is no way for me to have an exercise schedule, no matter how hard I try, so for the exercising, I try to look at it as a week thing, not a daily thing, I know in 7 days, I need to exercise a certain amount of time and burn so many calories, so if I don't feel like working out on a Monday or am too busy, then I know I have 6 days left, and somehow I manage to squeeze in all my exercise every week. As far as food, goes, just try not to deprive yourself of your favorite stuff, mine is chocolate and carbs, so a few days a week I splurge on some chocolate and if I want carbs, I try to eat in moderation. I know its tough for us women with all our hormones changing all the time, trying to balance work, family and our weight. I wish you luck, and hope you can stick with MFP. Good luck on your journey, from your photos I think you look great, you must be doing something right0

Try reading "Intuitive Eating" - it's the program I just started on based on the advice of my dietiician. Basically, it's learning to listen to your body. Many things in it are hard to accept, especially for the chronic dieter. For more information, go to http://www.intuitiveeating.com/
Best of luck!0 -
So should I step on the scale or not? If I'm doing what I'm supposed to do regularly, my body will get to where it needs to be right?0
