extra food after workouts....

Okay...I am sure there has been a post here already but, I have gone back at least a week & can't find anything on it. I am totally lost on this concept & always have been.
Anyways...I do my exercise at the end of the day before dinner. So this means I am working out about 5P or so. I try to do AT LEAST an hour. If I get in more...awesome! So my question is this...when I come home & input my workout then go to my food diary to recalculate, it tells me that I have gained so many calories & such. Seeing as it is already at least 8P by the time I get settled...I can't eat ALL those calories before it is "time" to stop eating or before I go to bed. Do I add to the next day? Can I keep saving up for the weekends? Do I just eat some of them? Do I just forget them?
Again I am sorry if this is somewhere already. I just couldn't see it. I hope this makes sense & I look forward to your help! Thank you in advance!!

My doctor told me NOT to eat back exercise calories...but I've noticed a lot of people have different opinions on here.0

You don't have to eat them if you don't want. But if you are hungry, feel free to take on those calories (in a healthy way of course)! Make sure you get at least 1200 calories net per day though, so your body has enough energy to do it's everyday normal thing.0

I am no expert, but I think the simple answer is: If you burn more calories than you eat, you'll lose weight- so obviously don't eat them if you want to lose weight. I have read alot about your body going into starvation mode if you don't eat them.....but I'm beginning to believe that everyone's body is different and so that may not be true for us all. I have a friend who does a 5/2 diet plan where she eats small, healthy amounts 5 days a week and eats whatever she wants 2 days a week. She has lost alot of weight doing this.
I know I haven't been any help to you...but sometimes I think we just have to experiment to figure out how our unique body will respond.0 -

Same. I've been advised by both my PCP and a nutritionist. I tried the net calorie thing for 6 months about a year ago, and I packed on some major lbs. If you're hungry, eat something but if you burned like 2,000 calories I'd highly advise NOT eating that much. I'd feel terrible if I did.0
