Getting Started

I'm looking at starting a workout routine to get back into shape, any tips on where to start? Even though I was an athlete when I was younger, I am basically starting from the beginning again.
Should I just start with cardio, should I throw in some light weights as well? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I know very little about an exercise regimen. As a matter of fact, I dieted 3 months before even doing anything.
If you can go to a gym and get a personal trainer, they could tell you what you could do. that's not an option for me, so I started out by walking. I don't drive, so I walk and bike everywhere so walking seemed like a logical thing to start with. I go up to the HS track 2-3 times a week and I do 3 miles. My feet start to hurt after 3 so I'm keeping it at that for now. Just this past week, I started the C25K program (there's an app for that, lol). and I started to incorporate jogging into my walking. Yesterday I walked a total of 3 miles and jogged 1 mile, on and off. took me an hour or so. I burned almost 500 calories.
Good luck !!0
