    I'm an elliptical girl!

Walking doesn't feel like enough of an exercise for me and running doesn't work for me yet.

Hoping to graduate to running at some point, but for now it wouldn't serve much of a purpose.

I have had mine for four years and love it! I did run outside this summer but since I get up at 6am it is to dark now. So back to the treadmill. I am so glad I can get up exercise and not have to think about having gym clothes, do I have to shovel snow first to get out or going anywhere.

Hate it. I can walk outside forever, but the second I get on a treadmill my calves cramp up. I must walk differently on it.
  • OMG> The treadmill is torture. Like nails on a chalkboard. It is SO BORING! Last time I tried it I lasted 7 minutes and 34 seconds. Then went outside.

I love the treadmill. I don't worry about music disturbing anyone in the house, cuz I use my MP3 player with my marshmallow earplugs and just tune the entire world out, including the humming of the treadmill.

How to make it more effective? If your balance is good, and/or the tready is wide enough, carefully sport some 1-3 lb handweights to pump up your heart rate. This is good, because if you're starting out, you don't do much with them but hold them, but the increase in resistance is phenomenal and thus your calorie burn. As you increase your stamina, (I'm assuming your shoulder joints are in good shape - mine are now and they didn't used to be) and you use controlled motion, you can get quite creative with them. I went from a jogging motion to an all-out arm raise/forward/upward motion, which adds about 15-20 bpm to my HR. What a workout~~!!!

I've had both and I prefer the elliptical! My treadmill is in our storage bldg, but I thought about bringing it in during the winter- not sure though. I like my videos and elliptical. Good luck to you:flowerforyou:

I always push myself harder on the treadmill, I think its because I can see how fast I'm running. Also, its great for a varied workout push the incline up for a couple of minutes, and then down, then the speed up for a minute, and then down - it can be kind of fun and challenging at the same time. If your just walking you can change it up sometimes by walking with light weights in each hand (e.g. 0.5kg).

I love it. At the gym I use the Incline Trainer and program it for interval training so it's a great work-out and burns more calories than the ellipitical. At home, I use it in front of my favorite shows. It's a great way to get in some exercise and watch CSI.

I enjoy both; I'm a fair weather outdoor runner-don't like to be too hot or too cold  n But I love having the scenery and different challenges.

With it dark in the early mornings, I tend to run on the TM. I catch up on tv watching since I don't usually do it otherwise. I catch up on any shows I like on-line.
  • I love it....

The first time that I lost weight (yes I gained again:sad: ) i used my treadmill and lost 20kilos.... Now i need to get back into it! I have a tv in front of it and watch my fav programes! It'ss great. Every body is diff and tastes are diff. So try it and see how you go! U loose weight, ull be happy and keep going!

See for yourself whether you like it or not... I'm sure you will

I love love love my treadmill! I use that time to catch up on shows that I've missed! If we record a show that was on too late or a movie that I wanted to see that hubby has no interest in. It makes the time go by so quickly. If I watch TV, I try to use the commercials to speed it up into a jog or run!
    Enjoy!!!

i love the treadmill. The gym I go to has a whole line of them in front of plasma tv's. I put a show on that I want to watch, set the closed caption and crank up my iPod. I love, love, love it. I do intervals - warm up 5 mins, run 15 mins, walk 5 mins, run 15, walk 5, run 15, cool down.

I love the treadmill. But I love to run so the treadmill allows me to do that when the weather would keep me off the track.

I like the treadmill but don't love it. A walk outdoors is better.

I love mine. I love  watching Grey's and working out at the same time. I cover up the screen so I don't know how long I've been working out. I'd rather walk outside but since it's getting cold and darker earlier, it's not really an option where I live now.

I love running any way I can get it! I was a treadmill junkie this time last year and for most of the winter. I think it finally did my lifelong bunion in, though, and I had to have surgery in the spring. I'll never get on a treadmill again. It's nothing but the elliptical for me, until I can run on solid ground when the weather warms up.
