Are these two things normal in exercise?

So today, I did a HIIT exercise (Turbo Fire 12 minutes). My lungs were on fire after the workout, which didn't really bother me much, but I coughed for a few hours after I did the workout. I seem to be fine now, but I noticed this happens a lot when I workout, only to a lesser degree.

The other thing is this weird crunching in my shoulders. When I was doing the stretch segment of the video, the instructor has you do this motion with your arm . Hmmm...how to describe... if you put your arm straight out to the side, then bend at the elbow so your fingers are facing down in a L shape, then you move your arm up and down while keeping it in this shape I get a crunching noise in my shoulders. I have noticed this before when lifting weights, but kind of has me concerned I might injure myself.

Anyway, just some weird inquiries.

On the breathing it is possible you might have stress induced asthma. As for the funny noise in your shoulder, my knee sounds like a screen door creaking that other people can actually here. I just figure it's some form of arthritis but don't know fer sure.

It sounds like your shoulder may already be injured. Or maybe just arthritis. You may want to let your doctor check it out.

    Not sure about the coughing.

I had a similar problem with my breathing when I started working out, got worse when I started running. I gave up the running for a number of reasons, but I've continued with the other cardio and it has gotten much better. Not sure what to tell you about the shoulder. If both persist I would recommend seeing your doctor.

Not sure about the coughing, but regarding the crunching... I have lots of clicks and crunches in knees, hip and one ankle - it's so loud I other people can hear it when I walk.
I asked my physio and she said that as long as the noise wasn't accompanied by pain, they don't tend to worry about it.
But, everyone is different, if it continues, it would be worth asking your doctor about.

Hi, not sure about the lungs -- asthma (hope not)? maybe allergies that are exacerbated by a heavy workout, upper respiratory infection?

The creaky shoulder -- I have that - probably crepitus (I refer to it as "decrepitness", ha:

    keep up the good work!

if you don't currently have a cold when this breathing thing is going on...then I would be willing to bet exercise induced asthma would explain that!

as far as the shoulder thing...either carpal tunnel, torn rotator cuff, or arthritis...see a doc for sure to get an x-ray :)

    good luck!

Thanks for all the replies! It doesn't hurt in my shoulders, it's just more uncomfortable I guess. My kness do some really loud popping too, like loud enough that other people can hear when I bend down lol. I have never been concerned about the knees though. I guess it is probably just the way my body is built.

The exercise asthma thing kind of concerns me though. I will be going to the dr. soon, so I'll put that on the list to ask about. My daughter has exercise and virus induced asthma, and is on a nebulizer.

I did smoke for 10 years too, but quit nearly 4 years ago, so I dunno I guess maybe I could have done some damage.

Oh and I don't have any cold or anything going on that I can tell.
