NSF (Non Scale Failure)

Yesterday we had a little family get together with my husband's family. I love his grandma to pieces, but I overheard her tell my mother-in-law "Come here and look at this..." and when I looked over, they were looking at me. I said, 'what's up?' and she got all jittery and was like, "Oh it was just your shirt and the way you were standing..." Found out she wanted my mother-in-law to look at my belly because she thought I was pregnant again. Talk about a NSF (non scale failure) instead of a NSV.

Eeek! I'm sure they didn't mean anything mean but blimey that must have been rubbish. And hey, it's not your 'failure', it's other peoples meanyness! You're just going to have to prove them wrong now, aren't you?

Aww! Shame on them for even talking about people like that in the first place! It is not your failure! You're on here and you're doing something about it, they are just rude!

Don't consider it a failure, consider it a motivation. :flowerforyou:

Oh no!! Even if they thought that they should have NEVER said that. It's such a slap in the face when you hear something like that - especially when you are 12 pounds down and should be feeling pretty darn proud of yourself - everyone at this site is!!

I love TS's advice to take this as a motivator. If this happened to me, I'd probably beat myself up for about a day, but then get right back at it. Keep doing what you've been doing to lose the 12 - the next time you see them, I'm sure you will feel even more confident and will either be able to brush it off. If you're not able to brush it off, I'd probably say something like "actaully, I've lost 12lbs" and see what their reaction is. Family should be proud of that and either shut up or give you the compliment you deserve.

I love this! I also get the rude remarks from one of my family "branches"... no matter how I improve or how much weight I lose, it's always something, until one day I was able to say "I wear the same size as you do, Aunty"... hahaha... now I'm to thin! hahahahaha
