I found even more motivation at the social security office today when I went to get my name changed because of marriage (yay!). I had to change where I sat twice while I was there, because so many people were so obese they couldnt fit in the chairs and needed the double occupancy seats. Also, another lady was so overweight she qualified as disabled and is going to get benefits because of it.

Healthy body + healthy life = happy life

I think that people should have to prove that they really cant get in shape .... like when you want to get any kind or weight loss surgery you have to do a little on their own. Make the people that are over weight go on a diet supervised by a doctor and if you still dont lose weight then maybe you could get benefits. I know there is a lot more to the whole state assistance programs but it just pisses me off to talk about it lol Granted there are plenty of people that need help but a lot of people take advantage of it. My fiance and I both got laid off at the same time and when we applied for food stamps we got approved for $16 a month..... what a joke right! Ok my rant is done!

Great job though for getting in shape!!

My son is on SSI and it is only because he has a disability that will be with him for the rest of his life, he is autistic. When I inquired about it with the people there the guy told me I should apply too because I have some stuff wrong with me too but I told him no. I think that a lot of people would jump on that though and say they can't work because they are disabled. A lot of people in this world are dishonest and they ruin things for those of us who are completely honest. It is sad.

Yeah I agree!!! I think part of it also is that people cannot get private insurance because they are obese, and unless you are pregnant or have children you cannot get medicaid, so if there are any underlying medical conditions they are scccrewed.

I agree, the services and programs are there for people who NEED it, like your son. I have an uncle who is missing a leg. He has a prosthetic and can do everything a normal person can do, yet he decides to drink beer all day and collect disability from the government. FAIL
